I had a stupid whim on my 22nd birthday to do a 365 day self portrait project. With my sanity barely intact, i finished updatting & uplaoding and sorting and post processing all those photos yesterday. All that is left now, is the sharing, so here are the proof sheets from Life Is Not Made Up(jave scripts need to be on to view the site).

Wow... kudos to you for such a huge project, and so well done! I can only see the thumbs right now (at work...don't want the cyberpolice freaking out on me) but I'll view it in depth at home tonight. Excellent!! :)

My java is on but couldn't get too far into it! When I clicked Eneter the second time all I got was the picture on the right of screen and nothing else! :(

OK! That worked! I couldn't see every photo from each month only a select few but I get the drift! You've done very well to keep it going for a year and there are some great shots in there for an interesting project! Well done! |

this is pretty daring stuff - taking everyday moments and turning them into art. are you planning on printing those arrangements all together like you posted? or each individually?
framed right would work well in an art museum.. kudos for your experimentation and bravery!

I got to look at the whole thing and I think it's absolutely fascinating. Strong imagery...like we're delving into your psyche or something. I think it's really a great project. I had to bookmark it so I can revisit periodically...I'm sure it's something I'll see through new eyes every time. :)

I thought it was FANTASTIC! You have a very good eye for the every day objects and things around you. You managed to take some very subtle things (like a curl in your hair) and turn it into a very interesting photo.
Congratulations on a HUGE undertaking and sticking with it.
Love it!

Linda - you'd be surprised how many hrs in a year you actually spend in the bathroom. It is brought to yyour attention by projects like this.
Fetor - i'm a naturalist ;)

I think the photos would make a great coffee table book! There's so much you could do with it! |

This is just amazing. Not only the photos, which are absolutely inspired, but also the whole website and the concept behind it.
My only negative is that you seem to have a member's area for your more risque shots... this seems to me a little like prostituting yourself, which clashes with the whole arthouse aesthetic.
Your website (mesmeraj.com) is stunning. You are quite a talent! |

Proof sheets look interesting, but when I went to the site, I followed the arrows, and the final one said "Members area". Then it wanted a username/password. I gather from below others can see the photos on the website (nice opening screens, BTW) but I could not. Neat idea.

Bobsterlobster - nah there are just as risque shots in the public sample (actually i think the "worse" are public). Like i said, i would like to make a book, so i am keeping some to myself for that reason.
nshapiro - if you can't see the links on the left, click the "last resort" link i left for makka. |

How very brave and inspiring and truthful. I think this would make for an amazing book... to open your life and moments up to the world to take a raw look for an entire year allows the voyeur in all of us to participate and relate to you on levels typically not seen or done.
Well done on such a moving project and what a tribute to the magic of your own life and experiences... a visual journal of the journey.
