I am back from hols and 29th still looks good for me. Will go with the flow as far as food and drink goes, but I agree on an earlier start time to allow us to catch the sunset.

Off topic....
Hi All, I could resist no longer and picked up a 5D this morning... this leaves me with a 20D in need of a good home... anyone interested before I advertise elsewhere?

Oh My! This sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun and just right across the Channel for me. Real bummer that I still have to miss it - got something else committed already.
BTW, Chris, how much are you getting rid of your 20D for? I've been toying with the idea and thought I'll wait till after xmas as I wanted to understand better the technical bits. Right now I just have a P&S Sony. But since it's a DPCer, I thought why not if the price is right.

Next time I think I will also come over to London.
With those el-cheapo tickets lately, I'm sure I can manage...
What does a ticket Amsterdam-London cost these days?
I'll keep an eye on the GTG7... |

You can get budget return tickets for under €100 if you book a reasonable amount of time in advance, I think, or about €140 for the non-budget airlines...

OK, I'm finally getting there! I've made a reservation for us under the name 'Hawkins' at Millbank Lounge Bar, just south of Westminster, for 4PM. This'll give us time to munch on their cheaper lunchtime menu (follow the Millbank Mix link). For those of you that need one, here's a map of the location, and it should be just 5-10 minutes walk south of Westminster tube station (or 5-10 mins walk north of Pimlico tube, if you prefer).
I'm also in the process of arranging a permit for shooting on the grounds around of the new City Hall, and chasing the London Eye do the same, so hopefully we won't get hassled by security guards :o)
I'll post more details later tonight (if there's anything to update), but please let me know ASAP if you have a change of plan or are dragging somone else along or whatever so that I can update our bookings/permits/etc.

UPDATE: The London Eye are great people, they've given us a permit within a few minutes of me calling them :D Hopefully City Hall will pull their finger out soon...

Have I been passed over for inclusion in the meal? Hopefully an oversight, and one that might be corrected!
Looking forward to taking a few pics.

Oops, I hadn't spotted your name in the list of definites, my apologies. Luckily, the booking is for 12 people (as are the photo permits), so there shouldn't be any problems with you coming along too :o)

Sure thing, the more the merrier. The permits are pretty flexible (within reason), and I can easily update the restuarant booking if needs be.

Errr...looking forward, might i humbly suggest the next GTG be in Paris to group a larger DPC European community? Plus it'll be fun and challenging to try and take shots of an over-photographed city to give it fresh DPC perspectives...

Sounds like a great idea! Why don't you start a thread about it, and see if you get any interest?

Manic, it's great that you got all the permits sorted... sounds like it's going to be a blast. In the end we aren't doing much this weekend but my hip and knee are really bad at the moment and I don't think I'd be able to keep up so we'll sit out till the next one.
Elee, GTGs aren't officially planned - it's just a case of one or more DPC member proposing one in their area and offering to plan/ book it. The fact there have been 5, soon to be 6, in London is just down to the fact that myself and others have been enthusiastic and have made them happen.
Paris would be a great place for a GTG so if anyone based near there is willing to propose/ lead/ organise one I'm sure it would be popular!
