Wow! I only need 7 more to beat Heida, that is of course if she doesn't get any more. ;-) I better get out of this slump I'm in and get working! Great job putting this all together, must've taken a lot of work.

Wow, and are you going to update that every challenge?

Oh I see I'm mentioned too haha 47th place, good enough for me ;)

What, you mean we're supposed to try to get the most ribbons? ;-)
10/24/2005 10:01:01 AM · #6
looks like im gonna have to step up a few notches :-)

if we did it like the olympics in terms of gold, silver, bronze, i would be in second place behind heida.

Ok my new goal (impossible as it may seem) is to get to 10 ribbons b4 the year ends.

Cool work, :), it was fun looking form my name :)

- Much respect for Heida !

sigh.... and to think I'd be in that 2-ribbon categoty if it weren't for the damned time/date stamp... I had no idea so few people had more than one ribbon for the year; talent's spread pretty broad in here, ain't it?

This is AWESOME. Thanks for the effort. I am tied for 7th at 4 in 2005 and although thought I would have more by now, am really humbled by being in such good company.

Now I officially know that Heida is TWICE as good as me and Nico is 1.5x better than me. Now I can move on knowing that quanitificatively.

I don't know how others view me on this site because I am not particularly active in the threads, but I am probably the name people go "Huh?" who is that?

Of all people to make a late season charge, I see Elsapo and Nico to use all of their youth to forge ahead. But I would love to see E301 enter a few more challenges and stake his rightful claim as the best we have got. Thanks again.

Don't feel bad. There are much more of us not on a list than on one. I am not on any lists either, but my mom says I'm special.

Congratulations on your effort!! I tried to make something similar making correlation between ribbons and cameras, but never got it finished.

Is that an Excel sheet?

Yay! I am on the list, tied for 33-38th place, not bad eh! (Sorry, just enjoying actually making one of these list´s for once) Kindof makes me wanna get off my butt and try to make it even higher.

Oh and to answer to your question I put my money on the safe bet, that is the ribbon machine better known as Heida... :)

Yay I'm on a list I'm on a list :D!!
Nice job of putting together all these stats! On a different note, it's very heartening to see that there are around 170 distinct people who ribboned in 2005 :)

Great list Scot! Thanks.
It's pretty cool seeing those stats all laid out.
I should make a note of this, so I can refer to it the next time someone goes off on one of those 'It's only the same few people winning ribbons on dpc' rants :-P

however, 30 photographers hold 115 ribbons - over 1/3 of the total in just 30 of the more talented photogs here. That's a lot! :) (And good for them!)

Yellow Ribbon is worth - 1/4 point

That's interesting. Two observations:

1. May's well make 'em 4, 2, 1 points and do away with the decimal totals.

2. Not sure I like the weighting. Scoring's too close in DPC for me to feel comfortable calling a blue 4x the value of a yellow. Especially when some yellows have scored significantly higher than some blues.

You could consider using average score per ribbon as a multiplier to break ties, and assign all ribbons the same value. So if I have 2 ribbons that's 2 pts, and my average score is 7.000 for those two, so my adjusted total is 14 pts. You also have 2 ribbons, average score 6.5, adjusted totall 13 pts. That my 2 ribbons are a red and a yellow, and yours are a blue and a yellow, seems to me less important than the actual scores they obtained.

Of course, this is probably more work :-)
