I have a bit of a uhmm problem, hoped you guys might be of some help.
I have a shoot this afternoon. Its for a 12-month calendar of budiour shots. The model is a former cheerleader and is quite photogenic. She's not very tall, but thin and very atheletic and tan and healthy looking. Here's the problem...her chest is disproportionately LARGE for her body.
I need to come up with 12 distinctly different shots while minimizing the 'imbalance' and I'm just stuck for posing ideas.
Any ideas out there?

Can't offer too much advice, big boobs are too be encouraged I reckon, especially for budiour shots LOL.
I guess using a telephoto might compress the dimensions a little. You could also try some shots of her looking over her shoulders and so not showing her chest too much. Or maybe lying down on her chest with her head in her hands? How about draping her in a nice satin/silk sheet.
Good luck anyway! Post a few of your results, would like to see how you get on. |

Here she is. Cute girl.
Yes, do plan to try some draping, LS. And definitely an over the shoulder shot or two as well.
Thanks for the luck, I'll hopefully have some share-albe shots later this evening.

I cannot think of 12 budiour shots at the moment, but the key would be to keep her shoulder more square to the camera rather than catching her chest in profile. This will broaden the shoulders and shorten the chest (assuming she is wearing a top of some kind). Shoulders squared off would include shooting towards her back with her head turned over her shoulder. Props that break up the lines of her chest would also help... pillow, laying on bed, bed post, etc.
I posted too slow and just saw her picture. This is going to be quite a challenge for you... good luck!

How about one or two looking down at her from above? Umm, I'll find some examples and post 'em - hang on. |

Will keep those tips in mind. Just grabbed a feather boa and some fabric and threw em into the studio, maybe I'll just make her hold my dog! lol
Thanks for the good wishes JP :)
Oh yes, like the idea of high POV, sara, thanks.

If everything else fails try cloning.

Hide part of her chest with props--flowers, a fan (the fold out kind), etc.
Try using flat lighting on her chest (no pun intended) and more pronounced lighting on her face, play with the lighting ratios, use a shallow DOF, etc.
You may be able to do a lot with makeup if she uses it all over her body to give definition to her face and other parts (arms, legs, etc) and give less definition to her breasts.
And she may want to use some duct tape |

Yeah, I was going to suggest from above as well...that might tend to offset the "imbalance." You could always try to draw some inspiration from Dr. Jones' portfolio. Bianca has some "imbalance" of her own. ;)

Of course! How could I forget DrJones' gallery! Thanks Peecee.
Also many thanks to sara for finding some great shots/poses.
I'm printing the ones I think will work best and will keep the printed pages with me in the studio. Hopefully will make this shoot go more quickly. Still gonna take hours I think.

This might be stating the obvious, but I doubt that anyone who would buy a boudoir calendar would actually want you to minimize the "imbalance." Why not just shoot her the way she is?

Also - if you're determined to minimize and you'll have some sort of costume/drape to work with, an ACE bandage could come in handy. Works real well in the theater, so I don't see why it wouldn't work in the studio. Just remember when/if you bind them to bind up and to the outside so that you don't squash them together - it's more comfortable and gives more breathing space. |

Use shadows creatively. The veiwer's attention will be drawn to the lit parts. You may even be able to use a gobo to cast a shadow from her mouth to her abbs, and do something similar to the "blue veil over the face except the eyes" look
Here's an example (its of a guy, but you can translate it):

Another is the first picture of Marylin Monroe on this page (also, the pose will work for your friend)
