I got my tablet a little while ago and when I tried it I was a bit disappointed.l Whenever I press the tip of the pen on the pad it acts as if I was left clicking a mouse. I don't want it to that that, I want it to act as a mouse and I want to use the button on the side of the pen to the clicking. Is that possible? I can only use the pen as a mouse/tracking ball if I float it above the pad. Is it supposed to be like that? I have the Graphire 3.

Edit: I've changed some of the settings but it still does the same thing.

You should be able to adjust the sensitivity of the pen so it won't be as sensitive to when you touch the pen to the tablet

Edit: you've changed the sensitivity settings andit still does that?

Are you pressing the button on the pen?

I suspect that that's how it is supposed to behave. Using a pencil analogy, if you want to write, you touch to the paper, and move the pencil. If you simply want to "go here", you float the pencil above the paper.
Perhaps it's possible to set the sensitivity such that it does not detect a verylight pressure... I've no relevant experience, just hazarding a guess.

No, I just run the pen over the tablet. Am i supposed to click the button just to do that?

I felt this way about my Graphire until I resolved myself to switching back and forth from mouse to pen use. I gradually gained dexterity with the pen enough that I can now use the pen for most uses. Once you learn to use the pen and dodge, burn, airbrush, etc. in Photoshop with the pen, you'll never go back to the mouse. Just be sure you install the Wacom tablet drivers so that you get full use of the pressure sensitivity in applications like Photoshop.

the cursor will move with the pen if you hover the pen over the tablet without touching it to the pad...

ouch...
I love mine, I don't think I could do much editing without it. It took some getting used to but I think in the long run it is a great weapon to have.
