Hello!
Wanted to start a thread with a multi-purpose.
1. Give locals a chance to say hi and introduce themselves to other locals. In the format most fit to your personality (mine is below).
2. A place to discuss a potential GTG
3. A place to share resources as a local.
Name: Joshua Gordon
Location: Grapevine
Length of Time: 6 months behind the camera (beginner), 3 1/2 months DPC member
Would Be Interested In:
Get ToGether (GTG) - to take photo's
GTG - to learn and exchange ideas
GTG - just to have fun and meet new people
Local Camera Club
Hopefully some people might find interest in a local thing and if not hopefully will drop a line in this thread! Have a good one!

Hi Joshua I moved about 1 hour 45 mins from DFW in May but lived in Arlington most of my life. If I can work it out when ya'll have a GTG, I would be interested. I know there are many members here from the DFW area so I feel sure you'll get several responses.

Hello Bren and Katrina! Thanks for the response and hopefully we will get more people to notice this thread and we can get something going in the DFW area.
I am new to this photography thing and as such I am finding my perspective limiting in regards to what to do for a GTG. If anyone has ideas please put them out there! Have a great week!

I'm in Greenville, about a 45 minute drive NE of Dallas and would LOVE to get some folks together for shooting or for a camera club. :)

For one thing you live in a great city to take pictures right there in Grapevine. I have taken pictures there several time and when I get a chance I'll dig them up. If you like to take picture that be can made to look old, down by where you catch the train is a great place. There's an blacksmiths shop down there that has some great stuff hanging in it. Also an old feed store. I don't know if it's still there but there was a great old car sitting in an open garage that I got some great pics of. I also got some great pictures at Gaylord Texas at Xmas last year. They have a great indoor train and many other beautiful decorations. If you've never been in there it's a great place to visit. During the summer I like to just drive out by the lake and shoot. Of course the Grapefest is fun to shoot but it just passed. Downtown has some great old building and such. Also Wilhoites is a great place to take motorcycle/biker shots not to mention their wonderful burgers. :) I have often gone to Grapevine and spent a whole day shooting. I know some of these wouldn't be good for now but maybe for future reference.
I also think the FtWorth Stockyards is a fun place to shoot. I even enjoy just going downtown Ft. Worth and walking around and shoot whatever comes along. I have to run for now but will be thinking of some places that would be good for this time of year.

Hi Laurie!
Sweet thanks for posting interest!
Here are a few ideas I was mulling over:
Texas Fall Foliage - not sure where this would be the best right now...
DFW Architecture - pick a few sites that really represent strong style
Bah... lol well those were a few that went through me head... anymore?
Camera Club... never been in one.. does anyone have an sites I could go visit that would give me an idea what there about... want to get some ideas flowing?
Thanks,

Hey Joshua I'm always open for a get together so are many others here at DPC and at Texas Photo Forum.
A few clubs I know of in the area:
Plano Photography Club
Heard Nature Photographers Club
You may want to check out the Texas Photo Forum It is mostly photographers from the Texas area and there are a lot of amateurs and professionals there. Someone is always organizing out and abouts.

If you're a member of the TPF, you might want to get in on this Dallas nighttime skyline shoot... here's the info if you're interested. If you're not a member of TPF, you might want to sign up because it's a very busy forum with lots of local interests, shoots, and info! :)

I live near Austin, but have family in the Dallas area. My schedule is tight this fall, but I would be interested in a get together.
Next week should be good foliage at Lost Maples State Park. One of the few places in Texas to get those brilliant red colors. In the Panhandle, Palo Duro Canyon ought to be pretty (also Caprock Canyons State Park). If anyone is interested - I have family there and I can inquire what the foliage is like right now.
There is also foliage at Big Bend and at Guadalupe Mountains National Parks. Lots of hiking to get to the foliage at Guadalupe Mtn. NP

P.S. Historically the week before and after Halloween are the best weeks for foliage at Lost Maples.
