We all aspire for a 6.0 in scoring. Want to know what this will get you in open and member challenges?
In the last 8 open challenges, a score of 6.000 will come in at about the 89th percentile.
In the last 7 member challenges, a score of 6.000 will come in at about the 80th percentile.
I always wondered if member challenges had "better photos" or "tougher judges". It seems the photo quality is winning out.
It would be interesting to see what a 5.0 gets, as that is an "important milestone" as well.
Another tidbit...there have only been 13 7.0 scores in the last 8 open challenges (1934 entries). That 99.3rd percentile. |

It will be interesting the see the stats separated out between 'participants' and 'voters'.
Avg Vote Recd (Participants)
Avg Vote Recd (Voters)
If someone on SC could replicate Eddy G's stats.. it would be interesting to know if participant vote has started going lower (my theory)
The stats in question:

Interesting stats....thanks for compiling. But could you explain your conclusion ("It seems the photo quality is winning out.") a bit further please.

I wondered if member challenges were easier or harder to score well in. On one hand I would figure that the average picture is better since the person taking it figures the hobby is worth $25 a year in investment (mainly it removes the casual photog). On the other hand, the people who are voting also have dedicated $25 and may be more critical of pictures. It looks like there are more high scores in member challenges so I assume the membership is not a load of trolls. |

I thought you were trying to say that the entries in the member challenges were of a higher quality. I don't think your data support that conclusion. One could just as fairly say that the member challenges have "easier judges".
