Would it be possible to create a gallery for DQ'd images? Not that it should be a wall of shame or anything, but I think it would help users understand the rules better. Maybe just an image and a brief description of why it was DQ'd??

Oh, who am I kidding? I'm just DYING to see that picture of the naked guy with the colored pencils again. LOL.

Rob :)

Oh yeah, that guy was some hunk (in the pencil challenge). You ladies really missed out on this one if you didn't view the challenge early enough.

But seriously, I would love to see a DQ gallery.

naked guy with the colored pencils again?
I must of missed that one completely. I'm getting way too slow in my old age.

The "naked pencil guy" is still an active member, who still submits decent, legal photos to challenges. While he hasn't posted to the forums lately, he could still read them. We could be hurting someone's feelings here. Please keep that in mind.
Just a note in case people didn't know.

PS I'm not being preachy, but it would bother me, if this thread were about me.

Oh, and I think I like the thought of a DQ Gallery for everyone. Of course, it would be a gallery of the shots that were DQed for technical reasons, not that violate the 'unacceptable content' rules.

Sorry Heather, I thought the person who took the photo was joking. I didn't realize it was a serious photo. Sorry to hurt anyone. That wasn't my intentions at all.

I think a problem with a DQ gallery might be that some photos are DQ'd because having them on the site might cause legal issues... DQ'd photos could always be put up on pbase and linked to by the photographer :) That might be a better solution...

I think a DQ'd gallery would be fun, but how many people would submit stuff just to get into the gallery?

There are a number of reasons you're going to have a very tough time convincing me that a DQ gallery is a good idea. I'll now ask a bunch of rhetorical questions...

How do you know who broke the rules intentionally and who didn't?

How do you know who would want their images displayed in this gallery? After you answer 'ask them', remind yourself that this is more work for us.

How often are people being disqualified and for what reasons? (The answer to this is 'increasingly less, and often for not reading the rules... rather than not understanding them')

What disqualifications are worthy of being put in the gallery?

What about disqualifications that were made for legal reasons?

Overall, it's just a huge hassle, and I really can't see a big advantage to it. If you'd like to see what an image with text on it looks like, I can whip one up for you. If you'd like to see a border with a drop shadow, I can do that one too :) etc.

How about starting a *new* DQ gallery, and when a person's photo is DQd they got an automatic programmed response.

"Would you like your image shown in the DQ gallery? Yes / No"

Then you wouldn't have to email people to ask them.

Why, yes I do. I get my mail delivered at Drew's place. Actually I'm trying to convince Drew to move into his basement.

You know, that's not a bad idea... Perhaps the rules could be augmented by a "this is illegal" gallery, where your handy-dandy sunglassed purple folk help you by making illegal shots that you can post in one area... It might help the folks that don't like reading rules, cause they probably would at least 'look at the pictures' :)

Of course, this would probably get a priority of "dang, it's raining out and I have nothing better to do", but it might be a fun way to kill an afternoon.
