Heading down for a softball tourney. Is taking 405 to 14 the best way to go from LAX ? Looking at the map is there signs to help me find 14 off of 405? Not going to have to much time to go and shoot around the area, but is there anything close that is a must see ? Thanks for the help. Oh ya, hows the weather for this weekend ?......Thanks again...ace |

The 405 ends at the 5 (405 turns into it) and then it's only a couple miles north on the 5 until you hit the 14. But yes, that it the most direct route to Lancaster. If you have some spare time, right off the 14 is a place called Vasquez Rocks (look for the signs), it's beautiful there:

there is a great local winery that offers some interesting photography off the 14, exit Aqua Dulce going North to Sierra Hwy.
The wine is pretty good too, and is near Vasquez Rocks.
Lancaster is also close to Edwards AFB. Not to mention the local AAA team, the JetHawks.

Oh yeah, there's an airshow there this weekend too. I'll be there Sunday.

Went to NASA earlier this year, would love to go Edwards AFB. Just checked the game schedule, will be at Sky Tower Park from 11am to 7pm on Saturday. Sunday games at Lancaster City Park 10am to 3pm and off to the airport. Looks like the only time I can get out on my own will be early sunrise.
Any body have daughters Playing ASA Softball? They have two big college exposure tourneys in Lancaster each year. At 18a level it's all most a must to attend.
(Telehubbie, not only a great B&W shot, congrats on the ribbon)
If anybody is in the area, stop by, love to meet other DPCiers. |
