My 350D does not have the promotional sticker on it's box for the free 256mb card - Can I still claim it?

Is the code unique to each camera?

Looks like it. The code on my box looked like a unique printed code for that sticker.

Why, other than it is free, would you want a 256Mb card? I have one left over from my Fuji 602, and in my Rebel i never use it..it holds next to no pics.

"Next to no" is better than "no" in my book...especially when free. :)

Exactly! Would be a good back up if you filled your other card/s on a shoot!

Hey, 256Mb is the biggest card I use, LOL. But I have several of them. I don't trust big cards, you lose too much if something awful happens. I shoot RAW and get about 30 images to a card, give or take. I never, ever shoot anything that requires more than 10-15 images in one sustained flow of photography, so swapping out cards is not a problem for me.

I have 4 256 meg cards which sit never used in a quiet pouch of my camera bag! Shooting in RAW on a 256 meg card isnt that exciting! I use mainly 3 x 1 gig cards and 4 x 512meg cards which I use.

Wanna send me the 256's then? I'm in need of more storage but I can't afford any right now :-)

Im away on holidays soon and asked my local shop for an alternative way of storing lots of pics. I may be away for a month and have 2 x 1 gig cards I could buy more cards but at the sameish price he recommended an Iriver which can hold 40 gig I could almost store the whole holidays pics in it as well as the cards I currently have ....
My Question is obviously do any of you use this system or similar and would it be a good way to go .....It also an mp3 and will have video capabillities

The only time I played with one was when I used to sell them! I can't remember the brand though. It had built in screen and was a crap load of money for what they were! I'm sure they're cheaper now! I have about 6 gigs storage all up and so far it's done me fine! I have a couple of wedding shoots coming up with which I'll probably pick up another 2 x 1 gig cards.

An update for those who were interested...

The offer is on European models only. When you register on the Canon Image Gateway, there is a linke to claim your "Free Gift" (the memory card). To claim it however, you need the code off the promotional sticker on the box.

Cameras that were packaged before the promotion started can still get the free card. The retailer should have been sent Promo stickers to apply to these boxes. It seems my retailer either didn't have any or didn't apply the ones they had. Canon have asked that I try the retailer first.
If I have no joy with the retailer, Canon will supply a new Promo code to allow me to claim.

So there you go - If you are in the same boat, try your retailer or E-Mail Canon from their website! Only got till the end of the year to do it mind...

That is what I use (a 30 gb drive) that I can download my pictures too. Issues to consider:
1) Size of drive you need
2) how much it can download/time it can run before needing it's battery to be recharged. (Mine starts failing to make copies as it's battery gets low)
3) If you want a display for just text that the files are copied or you want a color picture display. (warning a color picture display will really eat into your battery time)
4) Do you have or would you take an old laptop? (larger screen for checking files and another option for downloading on the go) (See question 3 for color screen on a portable hard-drive)
