Hey everyone,

Now that Personification has ended, i'd like some critics of my picture. I'm mostly trying to figure out why it scored so low and see what is good and bad about the techniques used. I asked for an in-depth critic, but the club probably had their hands full at the time.

Any comments are welcome and thanks for helping!

RedOak,
your photo is of a wonderful technical quality, focus, lighting composition, everything is great, and is full of emotions. The only reason why it did not end up at the top is that the emotions were conveyed by the teddy bear, and this bear was MADE to convey human-like emotions. The challenge, however, called for something which was human-like unintentionally. That's all. Good luck in your next challenges, I'm sure your ribbons are waiting for you to pick them up.

add: the only thing I'd change is to shift the bear to the left or right a bit so it is not in the middle of the frame, and let him look a little sideways on the mess he's created.

A few thoughts: 5.4 isn't that bad. I think technically, it is a fine photo. I think Teddy bears are personified by the manufacturer. I think people thought that it was just too easy a subject for personification.

Sometimes I compare voting with the picture below and above my entry. If you see a large difference in low/med/high votes you can sometimes see what the people were saying. You didn't have extra 1-3 votes so it doesn't seem like the "does not fit challenge" crowd got you. Your 7-10 votes are, if anything, a little higher than your neighbors which probably reflects the superior technicals. You just got a lot of 4-6 votes which may mean the people were just not excited by it. (I know that's a really loose idea...)

You know I agree with itsimring already, so I won't restate.
