My PC has begun giving me an error when I do a re-start.
A box appears that is labeled "Runner Error" and says "Invalid Backweb Application id '8263142'". I respond by clicking OK and everything seems normal afterwords. I have no idea what Backweb is either.
Does anyone know what this is and how to correct it? I have HP,win98,pentium3,AOL ver8 and legal copies of all the softwear.
Thanks

Backweb is an auto-update application used by quite a few boxmakers. Your machine is just telling you that it can't find it. It was installed and then uninstalled imporperly (perhaps just a deletion of a folder) with information left over in the registry. If you're comfortable with editing your registry, poke around for anything to do with backweb and nuke it. If you're not, the best way is probably to reinstall backweb (www.backweb.com) and then uninstall it with its own uninstall software to get rid of the registry stuff.
Hope that helps. |

Backweb is an application used by hp, compaq and others to update their software, I believe.
I think //www.backweb.com/ is their website. Perhaps you could contact them and ask for a cleaner of some sort.
