Just amazing. We love to beat the "intent" to death don't we?
I'm open to either interpretation but just remember the part of the description that says the "grain is an integral part of the message".
Using added "film" grain where the grain does not add to the message is a loser. A shot of "food" grain where the grain is not integral to the message is a loser.
Good luck. I know I'll need it.

Grain (added I'm assuming, no PP notes) which enhances the photo ... this is the first photo I thought of when I saw this challenge. I thought this one was great.
Edit: for typo, dangit!

Great example. The added grain adds to the 40's style of the image. |

Oh 'tilda, you beat me by one post, but bring it on because I think I have a chance at my first 7.0! I've pulled out my secret weapon, and there is no stopping it...
Plus...I'm not doing a funky frame on this one...so I'm a shoe in. |

I was planning to use millet myself. I was hoping someone would post a photo af sorghum, one our most important "unknown" crops. |

I've got a great idea for this challenge! Maybe even make 6.0! Of course, last time I thought that, the shot bombed...
Personally, I'm thinking that this is a film grain (noise, ISO, whatever) challenge, so that's the route I'm going. But I won't vote anyone down because they read grain and thought "rice", either.
Wish me luck!

OK! I like brown sugar and a little butter, but no milk ... wait -- maybe that should be in the Yummy Recipe thread.

Soybeans are legumes, not grains. |

Dang, after they changed the challenge description I have to retake my shot of wheat lying on a red oak table at a higher ISO with less light:)

Definitely some noise in this shot, but not enough to be an integral part of the message of the image (imo).

The flower is beautiful, but I think they want the grain/noise to be VERY apparent.
Watch out for mine. You'll think you need to brush the sand off of your eyes after seeing it. bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ;~p
