It was great! It's rare that a movie with so much special effects have so much story line. Great character development and I'm not sure how I'll survive until the next installment comes out.

Just thought I'd share.

I agree. The movie was great. I can't believe I sat through a three hour movie. Thank God I stopped smoking.

Well I read and loved the books back in the 70's, but I've heard that this episode is pretty much three hours of constant warfare, interspersed with brief periods of recuperation and intrigue.

If you can't wait for the next episode, I suggest you read the Harvard Lampoon's Bored of the Rings, which can probably be found in a used paperback store. Thank goodness they've never brought that to the silver screen...

BTW -- congrats Jacko; it will get easier with time...

I sat through it twice ;)

My favorite things in the movie:
Tree herders...Way cool creatures and very detailed
Two big guys who open/close the gates
Gollum/Smeagle

It did move faster the second time around...Felt like it was only 2 hours and 30 minutes...haha

As a long time fan of the books I have to say the films have been a pleasant surprise... I expected to be gravely disappointed in any attempt at bringing Tolkien's world to the screen, but I have to say, it was done masterfully! I can't wait for the 3rd edition and especially can't wait to see the director's cut of all 3 :)

LOTR is awesome. I loved the movie. My wife got me the "Two Towers" playstation 2 game and it's amazing what games have become, they integrate the movie and the gameplay so smooth, it's kinda like you are playing in the movie.

I thought it was great. Peter Jackson has done the books justice, to his great credit. He's touched on the allegorical nature of the books, given that Tolkien was very much against the industrial revolution and its culture of mass production. Not that you can really compare a Model-T to an Orc, but...

I'm only just watching the first one!!! Recently bought the extended version 4 disk DVD. Guess I'll be waiting for the extended version of the second one :)

I just saw the movie this evening. After sleeping my way through most of the first one (got dragged to a midnite showing last year), I must say that this one appeared to be much much better. It's quite possibly because it's not just the Frodo Show like the 1st one was (and esp. 'cause I DO NOT LIKE the actor who plays Frodo with that goofy fake accent -- "Am I British? Am I human? Can I say two sentences in a row with the same accent?")

Anyway, just my $.02.

I guess I just realized that the "cents" symbol has disappeared from North American keyboards. Whoa, I'm behind the times. I'm sure it's been gone since like 1978. Kinda sad, though....must have been all that inflation.

Rob :)

LOL...Inflation :)

You know, supposedly the book is a bit different...They don't drag Frodo off his way only to release him...Gimli wasn't supposed to be funny...etc but I'm not the director :-D
