Exposure Date: Your photograph must be taken within the submission dates for the challenge unless otherwise specified in the 'extra rules' section of the challenge.

These are the rules so I guess you can't.

Nope. Sorry about your camera. I know the feeling. Mine is slowly dying too, but I got a new one that I need to figure out how to use.

Mine has never worked the same since it was dropped and cracked. I can't afford a new one though. I'm praying for a way to swing it soon. Meanwhile I am still using mine.

Sorry dude, them's the rules... :)

I do kinda wish I could dig out an old travel picture, since my week isn't consisting of much travel beyond my couch!

Hmmm, travel to and from the couch... That's an interesting idea :)

You wouldn't have to go out of your house to get a photo. Use your imagination and a little interpretation. I haven't been much of anywhere and I'm submitting something(hopefully it won't flounder like my current one though, but with the current amount of submissions, who knows, I just might get a fair number, then again thats probably just wishful thinking)

what are the "extra rules"? I wont challenge anyone to win anyway what happened to compassion during tough times in a event that is really meaningless? Expept for self gratification?
Just wondering

I wasn't suggesting that I wouldn't do that... I was simply saying that it would have been nice to have been somewhere exotic this week rather than my livingroom... :)

Don't get me wrong I feel for you but if DPC bends the rules for you then they'll have to do it for others. This weeks challenges don't have any "extra rules" and honestly I don't know what an extra rule is. Maybe someone who has been apart of the site longer could answer that question.

please do . I could not even find them?

Extra rules are something that has been added in since the new site. I think it's for adding specifics, like now that borders are allowed...say they wanted to have a challenge where borders WERE NOT allowed, then they would put that in the extra rules area.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it goes along those lines.

As far as I know, the only "extra" rule which might be considered invoked so far is to specify B+W for the Portrait Challenge. It is a phrase written into the rules to allow specifications in addition to the fixed, posted rules. Examples which have been suggested but not used include waiving the time period specification, allowing other filters, etc. Some of the exceptions previously requested became standard rules under "DPC2," like non-fixed aspect ratios, borders, etc.

That's what we need around here! More extremists willing to go with their vision rather than tread the safer middle ground...
You can always go "abstract" with tons of DPC-legal processing...
