Yeah you are spot on there. That's what my posts were saying from the start. Thanks for the injection of clear reading of standard English and for your empathy!Originally posted by Riponlady: Oh this has made me crave real Italian cooking, in Italy not some local, pretending to cook Italian, restaurant. The trouble is that once someone leaves their country to start up a restaurant elsewhere they adapt their recipes to the new country's likes and dislikes. So the people say wow we're eating real I talian/Chinese/Thai food but it is actually nothing like it!!! Added to the fact they cannot get their supplies from the same place so it has got to taste different.
Best Pizza I've had in 45 years of travelling in Italy, was in a workman's/local pizza placce on an industrial area near Napoli airport! Delicious!!!

I never thought of that. What do you put it on, a stone? I've done pizza in a messkit before but never on the grill. |

I had a hot pocket (chicken, broccoli, and cheddar) and a container of blueberry yogurt...and a glass of water. I hate water. I am trying to drink more of it but it's not pleasant. I'd much rather have sher's coke! :)
I also wish they'd install a margarita machine in the teachers' lounge, but that isn't gonna happen any time soon I reckon. ;) |

how about a nice stinking shark, some sheepballs and intestinal cake for lunch :) |
My GOD I hope this is a joke |
actually that is not a joke, it's traditional Icelandic food, as well as dried fish, torched sheepheads, sour intestinals, hearts, kidneys and liver, and jst about anything from the sheep you normally don't eat ;)
it's a tradition that started over 1000 years ago, and for a few weeks every spring (january-mars) there is a feast in Iceland were all the "old" food is eaten, and with it we drink an Icelandic wine called Black death, or in Icelandic Brennivin :)
everything tastes awful, even the wine, but togeter and with some live music and some good mood it's a real feast :) |

Nothing, I suspect. Last year a high school student in New Zealand did a science project to test the old story about Coke dissolving teeth (his dad is a dentist, so teeth were available). He included several common beverages, for comparison purposes. The MOST corrosive drink tested? ... pure fresh orange juice! The LEAST corrosive? ... Coke! The results were widely reported in the NZ papers. |

I've made "pizza" on the stovetop using a pita (bread) for the crust, some sauce and cheese. Cook covered in a cast-iron (or other heavy) pan for a few minutes until the cheese melts. |

Nah ... that's got some phosphoric acid in it (as do many food items) & at the concentration that ends up in the finished Pepsi it wouldn't dissolve a fairy fart let alone a tooth. |
