Tonight I'm just working on getting some more of these uploaded as prints. My quick converts below were from TP, and it turns out I had it set to use the quick preview, which it used to generate the smaller 640 version. But for prints and final copies I needed to go back to the RAW. Problem is, doing it again, from RAW, takes so long to get it to sort of match the "little one". From now on I'm only doing the large one first!
ALSO: (if you didn't read the thread: "My Bad" from tonight):
Some of you may not have seen my note I posted separately: I accidentally deleted my portfolio image "Bass Harbor Lighthouse", and I lost my existing print copy and some of you lost it as a favorite.
I've reuploaded it, but it's got a different ID. I'm going to adjust the threads below, but for those of you following this thread, if you picked it as a favorite, you need to do it again (if you want it that is!)
Here's the new ID:

I'm getting back to my Acadia pics. I am into the ones where I have a great capture but not perfect framing, and I see a few ways to do the cropping, each of which has it's "pros" and "cons".
Here's one view of this frame--there are some questions in the comments, if you could take that into consideration and respond. And Robert--would this qualify for your latest assignment (with subject)?

Commented. Yes, it fits the landscape-with-dominant-focal-point topic, especially if cropped as I suggest in the comment. I'd love to see the unaltered original to see what cropping decisions you made.

Here's the entire uncropped image:
I was tempted to go for just the water area, but I have a bunch of others that I composed more for that and have even better mist. I thought this was was interesting for the light on the land as well.

Still working on my Cadillac Mountain Sunrise series from Acadia, this is a different shot than previously posted (if it's not obvious).
While the sunrise colors are beautiful, they seem to detract from the subtle tones. So I am trying this in B&W. Let me know what you think.
This is cropped from the foreground (there's some nice water there, but it moves the mound center frame more). I may try an additional crop to get the viewer in closer to see some of the "front-to-back" pattern in the landscape.
Here is the alternate version I've cropped for a different emphasis:

Dammit man, these are exactly the photos I had hoped to get on my visit. You got just the right amount of mist/fog. I got way too much. I like the square crop the best and am adding it to my favorites. |

First, thanks to all who have been following these and commenting. I am moving at the pace of a turtle getting these done, but I like to take my time looking at the photo and deciding how to process it. I'm not even meeting my goal of one a night :(
Here's the latest--I'm actually still working on this; suggestions welcomed. Also the usual problem--It's a dark image but shows fine large, but when I reduced it (and exported it), it darkens, and I have to reprocess it to brighten.

Bear--I'm missing your commentary (and others)... You have one strike, bases are loaded... ;)
Here's last nights Acadia shot (processing wise). It's taken at sunrise:
I'm not sure I'm done with that. I welcome comments. Here's a bit different take of the same image:

Not done with this series, just took a little beauty rest ;)
Here's the latest. Which crop do you like better (only one goes to Prints)? All criticism welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Wow what a great set of pictures.
Cadillac Rock simply ROCKS! That is a fantastic image. I love the balance of foreground and background in it.
Acadia New Day would be pretty reasnable on its own, but the other images shine against it as it is missing some sort of focal point.
Beauty Rest is nice, but almost needs a tighter crop as the person is very difficult to make out. Though might look better in full res.
Bubbles Vista beats Bubbles Vista(Alt) as in the Alt version I find the eye is lead too directly from the middle bottom up to the middle top & out of the image.
I find the landscape version is more balanced as your eye is lead back and fourth across the image more.
Looks like it was a great trip!
Peter

Commented on the color. The B/W "pano crop" is really, really sweet...
Robt.
OK, all caught up now on the others.
