Step 1: Read the comments from my entry here:

Step 2: Don't.

Just a little self-effacing fun here. I've never been so slammed for a border in my life.

Voters smell badly.

Funny, I was just looking at your entry and said to myself "How do you make that frame". Weird.

"Win lottery" :)

Well, I wasn't so bothered by the presence of the frame as by the particular execution you chose -- that's why I offered alternative suggestions for how you might get a similar effect.

Personally, I've always liked playing with borders, but I rarely use that inside-line technique; there aren't too many images suited to it.

Yeah, when I saw that, I said "How do you do that" as well

Great shot by the way!

Well, I think the border kept me from a ribbon. I'm not upset, but I have that stone-in-my-stomach feeling with "coulda woulda shoulda".

Here is a breakdown of the # of 3/4 votes and 9/10 votes comparing my entry with the ribbons:

Mine: 6/14 19/21
Blue: 3/5 23/36
Red: 1/8 13/15
Yell: 0/7 14/18

The blue is clearly superior and deservedly so. I picked that as blue in about 10 seconds of looking at the thumbs. But I like my 9/10 scores versus red and yellow. Of course the 3/4 scores hammered me which is fair enough as people clearly didn't like the border.

You just sit back and wonder though... ;) (takes a deep breath and now looks to Coffee Shop as a possible ribbon entry...which does not have a distracting border.)

I loved the border, it made it the picture look like a postcard.
