I am now the proud owner of a Canon Digital Rebel XT...just waiting for the mail-man to deliver! (Sorry all you Nikon lovers - it was a very hard choice - and I did actually like the smaller size).

The first thing I wanted to do (after calling my credit card company to make sure they didn't reject the payment!) was to thank you ALL for helping me choose. You were all wonderful but a few special mentions go to:

BJ
petrakka
yido
kirbic
cpanaioti
hyperfocal
riot
Derf
Damien
scalvert
Nikolai1024
nico_blue
blemt
nshapiro
joezl
awpollard
sorry if I missed anyone else.

I'm already dreaming of the next model up, but I think that my skill level...and my bank balance will have to improve considerably first!

Yours,

One very happy guy...gone Canon.

Congrats!

Remember that you aren't buying a body, but rather buying into a lens system. Good choice. =]

Wow congrats,
And you already started with some good lenses too.
The normal route is to get a camera, then lenses, sell the lenses so you can get more expensive lenses, get a grip and a flash, then and only then get another body. :)

Anyway, seriously consider a grip as it extends battery life and improves the handling/feel of the camera, espcecially with a big lens. A flash is a nice accessory as well. Then again, so is a nice walk around lens in the 20-70 range. he he he, it never ends.

I saw you had the IS version from another discussion thread. I think I'll try to walk before I run. Besides, I went to B&H to try the IS version out, and it is HEAVY. You've got to do weights to be able to hold that thing up in the air for long. You'll end up with a left forearm bigger than your right!
(But it was awesome!)
