I was asked to take senior portraits for a friend's daughter. I agreed with the condition that if I totally screwed up they could go elsewhere with no hard feelings. So, I met up with them at 3:00pm yesterday to shoot while the sun was going down. Other than some of them being a little soft (shoulda gone with manual focus but tough with my contacts) I'm really, really happy with how they turned out....and they are too, which is even better. :-D
I would love some critiques on any of these. I used low powered on-camera flash on just about all of these and used a 43" white reflector for quite a few as well. These were shot in RAW, then set to cloudy or shady, and shadows and contrast were tweaked. No other adjustments were made and no cropping on any of these.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
Here are some faves and more can be found in my portfolio.

Some nice shots. I wish she hadn't worn those rather large necklaces. She's so pretty, the emphasis should be on her, not on her jewelry.
I really like 9524. It's my favorite of the series. |

Wow Jen, those are excellent! As a mom, I'd be thrilled with any of them. I especially like the railroad track ones, as well as the ones on the steps...but they're all really good. Thanks for posting! :)

Wow, you've got some very nice shots there. I really like your use of leading lines on so many of the images, but especially the train tracks and the ladder. If I were them, I'd have a really hard time picking a favorite out of this bunch. That's good, maybe you'll sell a bunch of them! :-) |

Needless to say they won't be going anywhere else!
Those are great - I'd boost the levels on the first closeup one to give her face a brighter, more natural look like the rest have. Other than that, USM the softest ones at 80, .8, 2 and you should be fine! :)

Very nice. The softness can work for you if you can sharpen the eyes a little. Overall I think you did great. On some of them the color seems a little grey compared to others though. You did great. |
