Yesterday I set myself a challenge to present Times Square...in only Black & White images...in 3 hours.

I chose it because Times Square is always associated with bright lights and colour, and so I thought it would be a real challenge to try to capture the spirit without relying on these attributes.

You could stay there forever and you'd always see something new, so I gave myself a time limit of 3 hours, during an afternoon. Maybe I'll do another shoot at night sometime in the future.

Let me know what you think.

I like them a lot, too. But if I'm being completely honest, I think most of them could use a bump in contrast. It seems like there was no editing after taking the shots, which is bragable, but I think contrast will extract more emotion. Just a thought.

More importantly, just an opinion.

Great shots, Sam. I like the fact you did them all in black and white. There are many interesting people there. I have never been but would love to go someday.

This is a great example of a nice series... some of the photos don't hold much value as individuals, but when combined with a set of related image, it becomes a part of the greater whole... excellent work :)
