What's the most dangerous place where you shot a picture from? I mean something like hanging down a branch like a bat and stuff like that. |

A few months back, I was trying to get some wildlife shots in a mountain nearby. I knew that bears inhabited those parts but didn't see any sign on the way in, so I thought I'd be safe.
After about an hour of footwork, I gave up and took another route back to my car. At the huge beware of the bears sign, I gingerly treaded the journey to the car. |

mmm... well.. as an Israeli.. i must say it will be hard to beat my dangerous places...
It was in the middle of a refugee camp ,during my service , very crowded.. i always put in my vest a camera.. and i took my first 3 mp Hp
camera with me..(instead of a extra ammo... but who cares) as being in the middle of the narrow streets.. i saw my freind the- machine gunner- standing with the back to the wall resting... and it was perfect composition with the alley full of dirt and ash after a long fight at night...
when i saw there is no officers around.. i pulled it and took a shot (with the camera).
man.. i cant beleive what i was doing for shots like that..

i took some photos from the King and Queen Seat in Rock State Park here in Md. It's about 190 ft in the air. My legs were so weak!

Wow, can't beat Jellyooo's there, but here's mine:
I was in Yosemite by myself and went to Glacier Point for sunset shots of Half Dome. There wasn't much room available on the observation deck by the time I got there, and didn't want to crowd the other photographers, so I climbed down below the deck with tripod and all my gear and perched myself at the very edge of the 3000+ foot cliff.
The eerie part for me was staying up there at night after everybody left(on the deck this time) until about 11pm in total darkness to get my shot for the "Darkness" challenge, knowing that a "grunt" I heard earlier in the parking lot was a bear. |

Took this for the high contrast challenge. Camera was no more than an inch away from these little guys. I had about 50 of them buzzing about my head and hands as I took the shot. Luckily no photographer was stung during the making of this picture!

My BiL had brought me a copperhead that had had its head smashed on one side by something. It was dead. Being the herp-obbsessed nut i am i carried it off and laid it out on the porch in the July sun to take some close ups.
Went inside to empty the memory card came back out and the snake had moved a foot or so. Okay i said, the cats have had a poke at it while i'm gone. Then it started crawling across the porch.
Wasn't dead, it just had a concussion!
p.s. that didnt stop me taking more photos as it crawlled away. Figured if it hadn't bit me while i had its head in my hand, it wasn't going to.

My kids were crying and my wife was yelling at me to get out of there after I tried sticking the apple on this gal's horn & she got mad, "growled" & hit my arm with her horn. I think they're extremely docile, though, so I don't think it was very dangerous. The most dangerous part of it was my wife getting pissed at me.
Getting down at ground level with this bull might have been a bit risky, but it really didn't seem to care. I think he was pretty happy to have the fresh hay and a field full of cows all to himself.
Covering my face in chocolate was definitely the most painful thing I've done for a photo.

I remember seeing this in the challenge and thinking whoever took this shot is either a little bit crazy or had a nice zoom lens. Never went back to read the details...now I know it wasn't the lens! ;^)
Just added to favorites - great shot you crazy photog!!!

This looked more dangerous than it was. Hardest part was staying on the rickety ladder I was using. The snake liked it's reflection on the lens I think...seemed like it wanted to crawl right on top of the camera. ;^)

These three were taken on the edge on the Colorado River Gorge. 1000 foot sheer drop to the river.
This was taken on the way up to the top of Picket Post Mountain. Dave is standing on an out cropping that has nearly a shear drop of 2000 feet behind him (Probably more dangerous for him).
This is a tarantula hawk. It has the most painful sting of any bug in North America.
This is a Mohave rattlesnake. Nicknamed the 3 stepper because if bit you are lucky to get three steps away before dropping dead.

By far it was getting this shot:
I was on the edge of Buttons Bluff above the RR tunnel and the James River (sheer drop to the tracks and rocks/water below). I have pretty bad acrophobia and even though I had literally crawled on my belly like a snake to the edge, my head was spinning and my stomach was churning like nobody's business. I'm still amazed I was able to get any shots off. Louddog - hat's off to ya buddy! No way in **** would you ever catch me on the edge of that precipice! LOL This was bad enough. I'm just so thankful that a train happened to come along so that I didn't have to go back and try to shoot it again! Oh yeah, NO ONE knew where I was either and this is a pretty remote area off of a dirt road, so if something had happened, I would have been SOL. :-)
I must admit though, I'm happy I got the shot (and happy it's over)!

I trailed this moose for about a half mile, eventually getting within 10 feet of his not so happy face! :) |

Most dangerous for me, well that would be Point Pelee last weekend. I was taking some shots of bees, turned around and sat down on a bench and realized I sat on one of them. Now that may not sound too bad but I have an anaphylactic reaction to bees, wasps, etc. Stabbed myself with my epi-pen and headed off to the emergency room. TMI: My butt swelled a little...I finally had a booty I could be pround of. hee.

This was taken leaning over the front of a moving ship, it would only have been dangerous had I fallen:)
