I was treated to the most amazing and impromptu concert ever tonight...starring the amazing J.P. Black on the world-famous old-green-ottoman drum set with couch pillow cymbals, and fabulous lead singer Clay Black and his magical $9 Wal-Mart microphone with the cord cut off, and sometimes playing his electronic guitar with the plastic strings. They sang and played hit after hit of their favorite band in the world, Journey. I tried to get a few snapshots for the family album anyway, to capture these moments in musical history. They will hit the bigtime someday, I think. ;)
For Christmas, J.P. has asked for a drum set and Clay wants a wireless microphone system. I think I'll just buy a big ol' bus and paint it psychadelic colors and we'll hit the road together. ;)

He looks just like a mini Rock Star! He's got all the moves down. That is beyond cute.
You have to buy them the drums and microphone so you never have regrets one day that you may have "stifled" the next Elvis :)
(One of my older girls started to play violin in the school orchestra this year and another one is now taking guitar lessons. They Love it and are so pleased with themselves when they master something new, I just bought an antique piano so I told my Mother In Law that we will have our own band soon, so tell your boys we can "open" for them, lol) |

LOL thanks...they are such fun to watch. I can't wait to see them after Santa comes. My neighbors, however, will be less thrilled. ;)

They certainly do put their little hearts and souls into it, don't they? :)
Lisa, I do believe the set list consisted of Seperate Ways, Any Way You Want It, Stone in Love, Ask the Lonely, Don't Stop Believin', and Wheel in the Sky.
Most kids want to watch movies like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, but these two would rather pop in a Journey concert DVD and rock out. Their dad took them to see Journey live in concert last Tuesday night, so it was like a thrill of a lifetime for them. I think I have the only 5 and 6 year olds on the planet that can tell you the differences between Steve Perry and Steve Augerri, Steve Smith and Dean Castronovo, and know the lyrics to relatively obscure (at least not megahit) songs such as Patiently, Suzanne, and Escape. Someday I'll have to work out getting them in touch with the band!

gee, mrs. partridge, that sounds groovy!
actually, a touring alt-country family band would probably do really well. think of all of the carnivals and fairs and the like! :)

Those photos are great! Your boys are growing up fast. It̢۪s seems they no longer need to shove a piece of watermelon in there face for enjoyment. LOL
Our daughter is 5 months now and she is just no starting to let out these big laughs and is rolling over in her crib.
Photos like these really get me excited for all of the different stages we will get to experience as she grows up.

HHHHeeeeyyy...you could decaupage (wrong spelling) photos all over the bus along with colors!! Very cool!
I saw Journey back in .... geesh.....1986? Yeah...the summer I graduated because I was dating the 'Ugly DJ' then and I got backstage passes too! Guess he was good for something :) That was when Steve Perry was in the band....wow....I'm getting old! lol!
