I probably spelled it wrong, but I'd like to make a triptych of some of my waterfall shots (all vertical orientation). Does anyone have any advice or links as to how to best arrange them within the frame (ie, moving the images so they are all aligned, equal distance from the edge of the frame, etc.)?
Thanks

I was just about to post this myself. I am trying to decide if I want to use 3 or 4 shots for mine.
If anyone has any tips for how to effectively line up pics in a row and in 4 square formation, I too would love to see.

For the inner borders, use the rulers and guides to help you. Then for the outer borders use canvas size like making a normal border. I found that is the easiest.
In case guides aren't familiar to you. If you click on a ruler and drag it across your picture, you will have a line appear which you can put where you want. It's helpful to measure spaces and such. Pictures and selections will also "stick" to the lines which helps lining things up (in the square scenario of 4 pics).
I used that method with these two pics...

I do what DrAchoo does. I decide on the final size and cut down my photos first accordingly. Then create the blank canvas, set the guides, cut 'n' paste and free transform to scale as necessary to match. Sometimes doing layers for the drop shadow and other effects. Sometimes plain, sometimes with a little effects like this one that only went out in e-mail.

Me too I'm supposed to do a triptych for a Christmas gift this year, never done one.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a triptych 3 individual shots mounted seperately in the matte of the frame as opposed to three shots on one print? Or even three frames where the pictures in each tie into the other two in some fashion?

You can do it either way you like.... Here's one of my recent prints of a triptych. I printed it all on one page but I cut a mat with individual holes for the photos, names, and title block...
Sugarland
I did this one recently also...
No Evil
I just printed and framed this one with no matting...

Cool and thanks,
Let me ask this: What size canvas does everyone us when doing a single page triptyph and what is a good size for the individual shots for that single page...4x6, 5x7 or larger...
I'm really not getting a feel for the (total) size of these examples. Are they 16x20 or larger/smaller?

It's a good idea to keep your longest length below 40" if possible. Framing costs increase significantly when you go over this length. You have to purchase oversized matboard and glass. Both cost a good bit more. |

John,
This remided me of something I was supposed to get back to you on.
I had the 60"x12" panoramic framed for the wrestling coach and, well, was a little taken back on the price, though it was UV Lexan. $400.00
Ouch! |

Does anyone know of a tutorial on the site for triptych's? I really like the idea of doing one like DrAchoo created for a Christmas present. I have no idea where to begin though and my photshp skills are lacking. |
