Looking for software to use on my Mac to do editing of existing pages and to build new sites and pages. Frontpage sucks on a Mac and Mac's HomePage is low grade crap. I'm thinking of getting DreamWeaver MX, but I don't want to go that route if it is going to be significantly different then the PC version.

Any advice would be great.

I just started using dreamweaver for the Mac and from what I've seen it's great. You can download a 30 day trial from here. Just click the try button. You have to register but it's free to register.

Edit: I put the right URL in.

I designed one of mine through ImageReady only. Came out ok. I then bought GoLive. Better! I edited my ImageReady site through it. If you are going to have a consistent look, the making a template page and imorting it to a WebPage builder works great. Also BBEdit Lite (if you know code.)
I decided to do the more dynamic type of site, with ease of use and changing it, with PHPNuke. Pretty sweet!!
Take a look at Photos4Aidan

I use GoLive, mostly for its integration with other Adobe applications. DreamWeaver is supposed to be just as good (and maybe better for Flash integration), but I'm not familiar with it.

dreamweaver all the way. Macromedia are the market leaders and are by far the best for web.I would suggest also that you learn html too. Things are changing in the industry to a web standard. This means lean code. style sepatated from content - leading to fast, easy to redesign, google friendly, and accessible sites.

dreamweaver functions exactly the same as it does on a PC with the exception that you can't dock windows (for some stupid reason, they seem to think that apple users are "free thinkers" who don't want structure).

other wise, the menu commands, panels, hotkeys, etc. are all exactly the same. i used it for 3 years w/ no problems switching back and forth.

i also wonder how much longer golive is going to be around now that macroadobemedia is starting to complete their merger. i'm thinking a few of the less-popular programs are going to fall out of favor, like golive, freehand, ... and didn't adobe come out with some flash competitor?

I don't think adobe will make a new "flash".
Flash 8 allready has new features like dropshadow, blur and some other neet effects comming from 'adobe'.

I think it will be, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash combined in CS3 or 4.

Looking forward to it allready :D
