is there really else besides ADOBE Photoshop?
It seems the site is all for Adobe Photoshop and nothing else.
Anyone else uses alternative editors besides that? or any other tools at all for editing or colours, curves, levels and the such?

There is Corel Photopaint, or Paint Shop Pro.

It is not only this site.

All the tutorials (well most) on the web are about photoshop, and it is the industry standard in many fiels (animation, post production, vfx etc.)

If everybody's usin' it...must be a good reason?

...or maybe Adobe just has a really good marketing plan?

...or maybe it's the will of a higher being?

...or maybe the govt. is behind it?

...or maybe hardly anyone is really usin' it, they just say so to sound cool?

...or...

I just bought a new ibook G4 and tried to install Gimp...with no luck.

I'm curious what people think of this program and if it's worth whatever struggles I go through to get it installed. I always assume the worst of software that gives you trouble from the start as foreshadowing of problems to come.

PS is the way to go.

I use a combo of Adobe PS 7 and Photo Impact Pro 8.5

They both have different features that I really like.

There are a lot of programs out there that are pretty decent, but I think that photoshop can pretty much do everything...there might be a long way around way of getting it done with photoshop than something else, but when it's all said and done, there's nothing that photoshop can't do -- especially with the wide variety of plug-ins available because the program is so popular.
