What say we have a DP Red Carpet... heres how it works.
We have catagories for Best Photographer. Best Picture (broken down into catagories ie. sports nudes etc.) Best post. Funniest Post. Worst Post. Most Helpful member and so on and so. We can all get together and work out the indidvidual catagories and have a vote. So what do you think? I think it would be fun and different.

Sports nudes -- now there's a challenge waiting to happen. :D

Oh, and your intended idea in is very good as well.

I could probably vote on 250 nude mud wrestling photos without getting bored at all. :-)

Re: sports nudes - something about seeing the 100m mens high hurdles run in the nude makes me winch in pain... owwwwwwwwwww...

Anyway - ON TOPIC - I suppose it might be interesting to see a whos who list of sorts. I have a feeling that it would immediately be filled with the site veterans, but whatever...

I think it's a great idea. Popularity contests are fun! We could have a senior superlatives type thing like "most likely to succeed", "class clown", "best eyes", "best dressed", "most likely to be late to their own wedding"

I wouldn't find a popularity contest that meaningful personally.

My alternate idea would be for some kind of "member of the week" where one person is selected by site council, or by nomination... I don't know how it would be decided exactly. But they would get a link to their profile on the homepage and a little extra attention would be shown to their portfolio for the week. It might get some of the newer or lesser-recognized but promising members a little more attention.

Frankly, I'm surprised that I didn't get any kudos for all the work I did to fix the DPC website problem. Especially after I was somehow knocked out cold by a known good router, and found myslef face-down in a bowl of milk in the DPC parking lot the next morning.

I would appreciate just a little recognition.

Not sure what you are talking about, but I got TIME to make you Man of the Year. Good enough?
