Hello.
I'm looking into buying a tablet and I was wondering if the Wacom Graphire4 is really worth the extra money over hte Graphire3 and what the differences between them are. Besides Wacom, do you recommend any other brands and models?

Got my WacomGraphire3 for $50 after rebate and can't complain.

no, i wouldn't recommend any other brands. Use an old graphire at home and a new intous3 at work. Have used various different graphires and intous models, they are all great. Intous is double the resolution, double the price.

A device that is similar to a notepad that takes the place of the mouse in which one can more accurately draw or manipulate a picture. A pen stylus is used much like a pen on paper.

In Photoshop it can draw a thin to thick line by using pressure instead of having to click on another pen tool.

Much easier to process images than with a mouse, or a touch pad in my case since i have a laptop. You can also write with it on word processing software, photoshop, etc. There's a lot more you can use it for but I am getting it mainly for image processing.

OK, I just ordered the Graphire3 from B&H Photo. I hope it's worth it.

Just about any tablet is worth it compared to other input devices for photographic work. It might take you an hour or two to get really used to it, but only about 5 minutes to know it was a good idea : )

I recently bought a Wacom Intuos 3 Graphics Tablet. I haven't used it yet but can't wait to give it a try. Its bigger than I thought it would be so I have to make some room on my desk.. hopefully this weekend.

I bought a Graphire3 tablet from amazon back in July, and after many hours of e-mails to wacom, I returned it. They told me that currently they can't support Tiger 100%.

while that may not sound significant to you if you have never used a tablet, compare it to painting using a brick vs. using a Brush.

Also great for drawing in Illustrator.

I always paint with a brick.

for those who have used both, what is the difference like between the intuos, and the graphire tablets?

Major difference is the intuos double the sensitivity of the graphire and the intuos has buttons that is be used for most used functions or something.
