i don't have an apple but had a similar problem with my laptop.
It would burn one disk, then ACT like it burned the next then i would put the cd back in just to check and it would have an error reading the disk :( and so on and so on... i cleaned the laser in the tray and it was MUCH better.... ohh except the apple laser doesn't come out in the tray... which makes a problem, perhaps if you send it to service. Doesn't apple have very good tele support?

When the problems come and go, seemingly without cause, I look first to heat issues. CD/DVD burning does get hot -- so check that out.

I have an older iMac (CRT style) that doesn't like to burn CDs after about the 5th one in a row. It catches bad discs when it verifies after the burn. When I have to use it that heavily (I take it on the road since I dumped all my $ into a desktop G5 and not a powerbook) I try to space my burns out just a little. It's not a superdrive. As for the G5 with the superdrive.....its the best money I spent in a long time! ;-) Holy Power Mac Man! |

I bought a powerbook to start so I'd have portability and then about 6 months later added a G5. I LOVE THAT THING. Dual 64 bit 2.3gzh powerhouse.
Rendering video effects is wonderfully fast.

I just got the same machine for my desktop - the Dual 2.3 G5 with Dual 20 in. Cinema Displays. It all almost makes work fun! Unfortunately, I am still stuck with my Windows Notebook for when I am on the road. A powerbook would be nice, but I thought they were awfully heavy. |
