It might look like I won't get votes at all with a voting system like that. ;)
but it certainly passed my mind today; vote from 5 to 10. I think lots of people wouldn't be depressed anymore if they saw their score ;)

Yeah but i didn't think that 1 vote of 10 from a friend would seal the fate of a winning bad photo.
Never mind! :-)

This happens on every challenge, it goes down by heaps during the day and then goes up at night. Whats with that?

I know I've only had time to vote on 12 pics, but I've commented on 4. My goal is to try to vote on about half of the images viewed.
As for scoring, I have not once given out a 1 to anyone. Are images that bad that someone has to issue such a low score? I have never seen one...and if they submit a bad photo for a challenge, I at least give them a 3 for the attempt. DOWN WITH ONES!!!

Jaimeson I really agree. I don't think I have ever given a 1 or a 2 for that matter. I did give a couple of 3's when the subject was completely not related at all. I think the voters are just very fickle because there are so many photo to vote on. I think it will be very interesting to see how things shape up by the weekend. |

I'm sure that's why. But I'm interested in seeing how things pan out too. Hopefully for the better! :-)

Definitely in the running for my worst score ever. But I like the picture. I'm wondering if people think I didn't meet the challenge.

Ok so I dislike people using a pic of a child when it seems more like a snapshot, but bashing a pick simply because it has a child in it is rude, if you dont like the photo then dont like it, but if it fits the challange and has technical merit grade on that, but for a sure fire way to make someone mad is to tell them they rated their picture low because they dont like use of children, Heck thats my kid in the photo so yeah Im a little miffed, and hope my wife does not see the comment because will most likely will send her through the roof. |

Well I'd rather know that's why they rated it low. There's no rules to voting here so people can vote how they like. Some people don't like abstract shots and rate them lower simply because they are abstract. Others don't like pet pictures so rate them lower. Others don't like black and white and some don't like color.
I find some shots with children to be excellent. And a lot to be "snap-shotish" as if someone has cornered me, pulled out their wallet, and is accosting me saying, "aren't my kids adorable." I don't know anyone who enjoys that kind of behavior. It's one thing to share your kids with people you know, it's another to try to show them off to strangers.
"If you dont like the photo then dont like it, but if it fits the challange and has technical merit grade on that, but for a sure fire way to make someone mad is to tell them they rated their picture low because they dont like use of children..."
If I don't like a picture I do grade on that. It can be technically perfect and fit the challenge but evoke no emotion, tell no story, give me nothing interesting to explore, be flat and boring. I won't rate that photo well.
Perhaps the commenter thought your shot was uninspired or cliche?

While I haven't given out any 1s or 2s so far, I just started voting, I have given a few 3s and mostly 4s/5s. I'm pretty slow though because I am commenting on all the ones I vote on and I'm a blabbermouth.. blabbertyper?.. in the comments.
I apologize if I've offended anyone with my opinions or suggestions, I'm trying to be truthful but not harsh. Which probably explains the length of my comments - I want to get my point across in a nice way so more words are sometimes needed than if I was blunter. Heh.
I haven't received any angry PMs yet, but who knows!

I agree with the snap-shotish kids pics and pet pics, If I thought my pic was snap shotish (and my shoes entry was and I admit it was an empromptu hey thats funny shot) But this one is shot is not. Also In the bubbles cat you should expect to see alot of children, as historically they love bubbles, think of all the shots using bubblestuff a kids toy, and how many bubble blower toys and baby toys that make bubbles, and kids at aquariums ect... They are net reflective colorful odd shapped moving objects.Kids love them |
