		| | Can anyone recommend a cheap camera I can use as a spare?
I have just been told my Olympus C-2100 UZ "cannot" be repaired (while still under guarantee) and have received a refund. I am desparately seeking another camera with a 10X zoom and image stabilizer - they all seem to be discontinued models and are pretty hard to come by.

What I am looking for in the meanwhile is something very small and inexpensive (any zoom) that I can carry around in my handbag. It must use SmartMedia as my computer still runs on Windows 95, and that is the only memory card I have the facilities to download.

I have read a bit about the Samsung Digimax 200, but by all reports it is very heavy on batteries - it uses 2 penlights and some reports say you have to change them after only a handful of photos. Are there any similar cameras that do not have this problem?

		| | How much is cheap? 10 x zoom will be more expensive wouldn't it?

		| | Gina,
As a C-2100UZ user, I feel your pain. The 2100 was the only camera that my requirement for 10x zoom at a reasonable price.

I suggest you look for another one, perhaps used (possibly even new) on e-Bay.

		| | You should definitely look on Ebay if you would like to get the same camera. There is no doubt about it! I have used ebay quite a lot, and find it to be a wonderful resource. Just make sure when bidding A)that the person has a good rating, and B) that you know what your bidding on... read the descriptions!

		| | I don't think eBay is going to work for me because I'm in South Africa. The two I've seen advertised there are only available in America and besides, I think sending it here would be a risk. I've got a couple of places I'm trying to find out about either another C-2100 or a Canon Pro90 IS, but what I'm asking about is a small basic camera (any zoom will do) that I can use until I find a replacement. I'm so frustrated not having a camera to use and not being able to enter challenges here. |

		| | I picked up my Olympus c730uz (10x Zoom) for $869.00 Canadian thats about $500 USD. It doesn't have a steady lens. I don't know if that's too pricy for you but it has some nice features. |

		| | Bill, I'm looking for one of the older models. I have seen the C-730UZ and I find it a bit to small for my liking. I really do want to find a camera with a stabilizer. It's just that it may take some time to find one and I want something small to use until I find what I really want. |
