| I realize that many of the mentor threads have sort of "died off" with time. Could those of you mentoring (or involved in) these groups give me an idea of which ones are still alive? I am taking up over a page of my profile just tracking these things, and I'd like to remove the inactive ones. |

The Freeman Patterson group is still alive, but we've slowed down to assignments once every two weeks. Of course, we do our posting in Blogs rather than here, but we post to the main thread to alert each other of updates and new assignments.

I pm'd you a couple days ago. Landscape/natural light seems to be currently defunct, with little interest. However, we have a bunch of people askign for a "photoshop workflow/basics" mentorship group. I've volunteered to lead that one, and I'm thinking it may as well be an open-participation group. That OK with you, to start that one up?

Defunct? Some of us were very interested--but we wanted the format to be assignment based, not just posting and peer revisions. The first couple of assigments you did were terrific. But then they stopped!

Candid died a very quiet death; I posted to ask if someone else could take over and keep the participants more motivated but no one responded so I guess you should remove that one. :(

Heck, I got the sense only a couple people were interested. maybe I should put my thinking cap on and come up with another assignment and see what shakes out of the tree?
Consider the group revived-but-on-proibation LOL.

Landscape/Natural light mentorship revived with a new thread: Landscape/Natural Light Mentorship II. We currently encourage any interested DPCers to join in and participate. If we get too big (seems unlikely) we can always prune later.
You can follow the previous "Natural Light" thread here.
You can follow the previous "landscape" thread here.

| I decided to stop mentoring the Gig Photography group... I'm not sure if Terje has taken over though. |

Although I understand the time involved to mentor a group, I am said to see them go by the wayside.

I don't mind expending the time, if the group responds. I don't like spouting into a vacuum, makes me look conceited...

I had to step down as mentor of the digital color group bcos of school commitments leaving me with no time. The group is still intact and either someone else could pick up the mentor position or the members might continue it on their own.
It was a really great experience for me personally, i learnt a lot from everyone and hopefully the members did from me and each other as well.

I dropped out of the black/white group as I didn't feel it was going down a path that worked for me but I did join (and remain very interested in) John's Breaking Rules group.
At the moment, personal issues have priority over leisure, but I am very much still interested in participating in that thread, should John remain interested in leading. Looking at comments from other participants, I think we would appreciate further input from John to help us get going on assignments, perhaps examples of the rule under discussion being applied and being broken, and perhaps deadlines for assignments.
I may not be able to participate in the next one, should he continue the group, but would appreciate being able to follow it until I have time to photograph again, sometime soon.

Much to my regret, the architecture mentor group seems to have fallen by the wayside.
I'd really like to see it resurrected. |

Exposure completed quite successfully. I had a number of requests to do Exposure II. We kept about half the Exposure I group, and added half a dozen new folks. Exposure II (focused on exposure correction in post processing) is going well! Here is the Exposure II thread. I am keeping a waiting list in case someone drops out. So anyone wanting in can just PM me. And as always, folks are invited to follow along, even if they aren't members.
