I am considering switching my 10D for the XT - what I want to know is - if it's worth it. I know the XT is an 8.2 MP camera, and the 10D is 6.3, but beyond that....is there a difference?
What I wonder about is I'm getting more and more work as a pro photographer, and when I hear "Rebel" I think "less then". I think Amateur, vs. Pro. Is this true? Should I just wait until the next camera comes out and the price of the 20D drops? Is it likely to even do that?

Doubt the 20D will drop anytime soon. I would just pay the price for the 20D. If you are doing it as a business then it is a write off anyway. The Rebel XT is a good camera. The best thing to do is compare the two at Canon's website then go to the store and play. You know how your 10D operates so go play with the other two and see what fits you best.

Though I own neither and actually know little about either (did you stop reading already?), it's always been my understanding that the 10D boasts more 'professional' features than the XT.
Of course, this doesn't really help with much - but I figured I'd throw in my own 2 cents before someone who knows what they're talking about comes along. :)

The 10D has noise issues, I'd suggest the XT...EXCEPT that everyone and their dog (literally) will own an XT. I love my 10D but would trade it in for something with noise reduction features for low light situations. |

My 10D is great - I haven't noticed any noise issues with it at all.
I don't have an xt but my Mom does and it is a smaller more plasticy feeling camera than the 10D. I prefer my 10D to it. |

I think what I'll do is try and see how much I can sell my 10D for - I have a $250.00 Gift Card to B&H, in NYC, so if I can get a good amount for my 10D, I think I'll buy the 20D. |

If you had to choose between the two I'd probably say go with the XT, but if you already have a 10D and have to spend dollars only for the change I'd say stick with your 10D. You'd get a few pixels more but will loose the grip, the viewfinder the construction quality, etc. Move to 20D or do nothing.

I adore my 10D and haven't regretted buying it over the XT for one second. Absolutely a fine camera and the sturdy build, size, and "feel" are just perfect for me. :)
