I want to start by thanking the voters for making my D&L entry my second best score ever. And thanks to the many commenters for their generous and flattering remarks.

There is a print available that will benefit the victims of Katrina if purchased by 9/15. So do like they say on Ebay and Buy It Now!

Secondly I want to offer two shots taken at the same time as explanation. Some people wondered about whether my entry was a stretch to fit the topic. One commenter even speculated that I had d&b'ed the butterflies to make them look dark and light. Here are shots of the same two butterflies taken at the same time (note the tear in the wing of the lighter one). They are not the same color, nor the same species.

These two images have had absolutely no post processing, only resized and optimized. My entry had some, but not much, post processing.

Thanks also to mesmeraj for offering species names in her comment. I did a search of each on google images and I think she is correct.

I had to go look at your portfolio because I thought you would have some really high scores. I'm really surprised that this is your second highest score. It's a lovely picture. But so are a lot of your other pictures.

Nope, I don't have any really high scores. I am still a beginning photographer in many ways even though I have been at it for a while now. Many here are more experienced than me, and faster at learning. Also, I haven't been able to decipher what the voters will consider WoW material, or maybe just not wanting to shoot for the masses. Not really sure how to put it into words. I still enjoy seeing my scores creep upwards, and am very pleased when I can put a new one on my profile page. But thank you very much for your kind remarks.

Mostly I just posted this thread to explain how I felt my D&L entry meet the challenge topic in the face of a few comments that said they thought it was a stretch.
