No, but it doen't suprise me. Probably a gas explosion, but who knows. Might be someone robbing a bank vault. I guess you all will hear the details when the sun comes up here.

The only thing I can find on it was that reports indicate the explosion was in the Railroad District. |

CNN's Take on the story
The cite the explosion as coming from a rail car....but that's not the scary part of the article. Just read the title "Locked and Loaded" and then find out why. |

Federal Emergency Management Director Michael Brown told CNN that federal officials were unaware of the crowds at the convention center until Thursday, despite the fact that city officials had been telling people for days to gather there.
"We just learned about that today, and so I have directed that we have all available resources to get to that convention center to make sure that they have the food and water, the medical care that they need," he said.
Don't these morons watch the news? Hell, Lisa, you live in Austalia and you knew from the news that there were people in the covention center. These are the people who are supposed to be coordinating this effort.

KATRINA (3)
Should it have taken this long? This is Dave Ross.
The remaining residents of New Orleans have been told to abandon ship.
There's a crowd growing at the Convention Center, hundreds of people camped on expressways trying to flag down helicopters, and reports of people who survived the storm only to die in the street.
Whereýs the cavalry? Lt. General Russel Honore of Jt Task Force Katrina says it's on the way:
HONORE: "We intend to have approximately 12,000 troops on the ground in Louisiana and 12,000 troops on the ground in Mississippi."
But in explaining why it's taken three days, Pentagon planners told reporters that they didn't know exactly where to go, because there's no good communication with local officials.
Which is true, and it's a problem, but ... have you turned on the television? I'm 2000 miles away and I can tell you where the supplies need to be dropped! They've been broadcasting everything but the GPS coordinates. Even satellite photographs!
Apparently the disaster plans in many cities assume that after Armageddon, the phones will still work. Well, as far as I can tell, they don't even have a working bullhorn down there. The one thing that DOES seem to work in a disaster, no matter what, is the news media - which is able to beam pictures and live reports everywhere except the area that actually needs the help! So maybe its time to plop a few generals in front of a TV and have them start giving orders. Or heck - just give the supplies to the reporters. They've had NO trouble finding the people who need help. |
