All, i was just out and about and a local radio station is having a hurricane fund raiser. taking donations for song request.
What do you think if I contacted them and gave a link to our profiles (those willing to participate) for selling our photos with hte profits going to the releif effort.
All procedes would go to the radio station to help in the New Orleans relief.
The DJ heading this up is from New Orleans and has only been here in Houstn about a year or so. So he has strong ties to New Orleans.
If you are up for this PM me your DPC profile and or link and I will get it to the radio station. I will work out the details with them as to how the links will be displayed.

I think it'd be near impossible to manage.
What I think we need is a "Banner" on the homepage. And the ability to opt in, we'd simply check it off in our prints profile to participate. The banner would link to a dedicated fundraiser page listing all those participating.
I know this would require some work by the Site Admins but I think it is worth the effort. And I think it could be re-used later should we have another tragic national crisis requiring aid.

I see where you are going with this.
my mind is working too fast right now. I guess we need to work up a global solution first.

If we can have a single point of reference...
It'll be much more effective. I think best to wait a day and see if this bears fruit in the form of a more organized focused "expandable" way. |

If you get this going, I will be first in line to donate all my work.

I sent a note to Drew and Langdon about this and will post a note to let everyone know the results. Until then, I'm happy to add anyone to the list of people who are donating their print sales to this thread:

There's no need to wait to join this cause. When we come up with a way to centralize the efforts, it will just become that much easier. Thanks for all of your support for these people who really need it right now. :-)

UPDATE: In an effort to centralize all of the photos and have a single place to point people who want to buy prints, I registered the domain name //www.katrinaprints.com and am putting together a site on smugmug with that name right now. It's not live yet, but as soon as it is, I will give everyone who wants to sell their prints a username and password so that you can upload your prints directly. There will be no approval process or delay in making the prints live, so you can post and remove your photos any time you like.
I'm planning on donating all of the money to the Red Cross or directly to a Katrina relief fund, if I find one that looks particularly good. If anyone has other suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks again to all of you who are participating in this effort and please stay tuned for more info soon! :-)
