Hi All,

very new to this charging money to take pictures.
I took about 150 decent photographs of a theatrical production for an Amateur kids show. I have nothing to do with them other than they were performing on stage in my work.
I put all the pictures together in a slideshow to music from their show. I have allowed them to charge for this CD. They will not be selling prints.
They offered £175.00 ($315) and i accepted.
Have i sold myself short or is this ok. I would have liked more but i am quite happy with this. I'm still learning so it's difficult to price myself.
What do you all think?
Idiot or not?

Cheers
Kev

Well, not sure if I have any decent perspective on it (I've never made any money from photgraphy), but it seems to me like, you sound like you're just starting out, it sounds like you helped the group out a lot (to me, that would be rewarding itself), and hey, you made 300 bones, got something to put in you pro portfolio, made a good future contact or 2 maybe, and started to get your name established. Sounds pretty alright to me...but what do I know :-)

If you're comfrotable with it, it's all good!

I would be happy with it. I've done higher numbers of pictures for the local student theatre productions here for no money.

Sounds fair to me.

While it sounds a fair price how much time did you spend doing the work?

All is fair if YOU think it's fair.

Sometimes I do shoot for free and other times I charge $900 US a day. It all depends who I'm dealing with and what my objectives are.

Thats a good price. There are companies on the Internet doing just that and the amount you got is in line. Be happy with it. Does that make you a professional now?
