Hi all. My name is Mike and I bought a Nikon D70 about 3 weeks ago and have posted some of the pictures that I have taken in my portfolio. If anyone wants to have a look and post your comments either here or there I would appreciate it. I'm just looking for some insight from anyone letting me know if I am headed in the right direction. Positive or negative, anything is appreciated. Keep in ming when viewing that I have not yet aquired a tripod and all the pictures are taken hand held. Thanks

You've got some great photos in there. I'm curious though as to why you saved them as .gif's. Any special reason for that?

No reason for saving as GIFs...I guess thats the default setting in Photoshop when using "Save for Web". Now I'm curious, is there any reason to save and post them as JPEGs or something else? Is any one option better than another?

In my limited understanding, jpg's are higher resolution and display millions of colors, whereas gif's only have 256 colors. Jpg's can also be slightly compressed without noticeable artifacts.

I just changed a couple of them to JPEGs and noticed that the files are much smaller also. The GIFs were all 200-240k and the JPEGs are only about 50-70k. Something good to know since we have a limited amount of space in our portfolios.
