I'll bite.

What do you guys think of Pat Robertson, a powerful "christian" man with millions of followers, advocating the assassination of a foreign democratically elected president?

Also as a side note, his reasons for advocating the assassination is that it would be "a whole lot cheaper than a war" and "I don̢۪t think any oil shipments will stop". But not anything about the suffering and loss of life that would accompany a war.

I think he grew up watching Mission: Impossible where this kind of illegal activity was considered normal behavior. Maybe he read Ollie North's book and gor "inspired" ...

Belief o matic says I'm in the Jainism relgion, but I'm really Neo-pagan(wiccan)/christian. I beleive most Christian beliefs came from the remants of the old ways.

Yeah, Pat Robertson makes for good headlines, that's for sure...I've stopped being embarassed by the large mouths of some christians - I can't hold myself responsible for their confusion.

His comments perfectly illustrated what I was talking about when I posted in this thread.

Unfortunately, that thread was overrun with extremism from both sides. However, I'm glad to see that many Christians have been able to view this situation objectively and distance themselves from such abuse of power.

Not to mention interfering with the internal affairs of foreign countries.

We have a name for those folks who think it's OK to kill some other folks because they don't share a certain belief system -- I think Mr. Bush referred to them as the Axis of Evil.

Exactly how is Mr. Robertson's statement fundamentally different from any of Mr. bin Laden's compaints about the way we run our country, and what he plans to do about it?

I'm curious to know if Mr. Blair has already declared Mr. Robertson persona non grata in Great Britain, as he remarks would clearly seem to fall under their new prohibitions against hate speech.

If you have apple pie, you've got to have ice cream.
