Something always comes up in the multitude of business card threads about how you can't design in a certain way because it won't work well with a Rolodex. Are these still frequently used? I can't think of the last time I've seen one, either in my business or anywhere else. It seems like everything is digital now - palm pilot, computer, cell phone, whatever. So I'm just curious if many people do actually still use them and if they should be a relevant consideration.

I have never used one. I design business cards quite regularly and have NEVER had a client ask me to be considerate of those with Rolodex's.

I don't use one but I have worked with people who as recently as a few years ago used honest-to-God Rolodex brand rolodexes (rolodices???) as compared with those little flip cards that sit on the desk and I don't know who makes them but they use the same kind of cards. Of course, some of those people tended to have built business contacts for decades and were reluctant to part with their worn scraps of paper. To their credit, I never had one complain that their computer was running slowly when I needed a phone number or tell me that they lost all their contacts when their hard drive crashed.

I did see a few times when we'd run into someone from lunch, cards would be exchanged and when we got back to the office the cards was put into the rolodex.

I used one for about 6 months back in 1997. Now I just keep em in a coffee cup in my drawer at work. the most used ones are on my monitor stand or their info is in outlook contacts

I use a Rolodex at work religiously...in fact, many of us in my building use them. When I get a new business card, I staple or tape it to a blank Rolodex card, then snap it in where it belongs. I would be pretty lost without it.

No I don't, but if I did, I'd set it next to my abacus! ;-P
