Think cold thoughts. Better yet- think no thunderstorm thoughts. That was a humdinger lastnight.

Do you think we can add a fee for the witch doctor to get us a break in the heat? Some of the folks coming to this shindig are gonna melt!

I've had a couple of folks ask about the logistics of getting metro passes. How many, why do I need one, and so on. So here is the reccomendation:
Friday: Only if you plan on making 2 or more metro rides that day. If you are staying at the hotel- farecard is a good idea.
Saturday: Must have. There will be multiple places we are going, and it's cheaper. Due to the heat, we may end up metroing around rather than walking.
Sunday: Reccomended if you are going to Arlington. Again, it makes life easier.
If you chose not to get the passes, then make sure you have extra cash available for exit fare if needed. The DC Metro system does not use tokens, or any fixed fare media. It's a sliding system of rates. Rates vary based on distance and time of day.
If you are staying at the hotel- you can pick up farecards on Saturday morning. If you are soling and planning on meeting us, just plan to spend a little extra time at the metro station to get your card.

I'm so sorry this is late. I just got home from a long day in which my mom in law ended up in the hospital. I have sent payment, so please let me know if it's too late or we need a refund or anything.
Thanks

I paid yesterday, too. And Di, I'll still be bringing the table and chairs you PM'd me about.

Is there still a need for tables? We have a folding table (probably 3'x 4') that we would be happy to bring Friday night.

Yes, there is a need, and your bringing the table along will be greatly appreciated. Anyone who has such a table is kindly requested to bring it, along with any folding chairs as available. I think we would all rather there possibly be one too many than not enough... especially for seating. According to the list (Di, please correct me if I'm mistaken here), there are some 20+ people coming to my house on Friday evening for the opening dinner; I think we would all like a place to sit. :-)
