Just shot this pic of my mom, moments before she left for a wedding!

I think it turned out real nice. I was using iso 1600 for it (), but only realized it after I donwloaded the image!

How's it?

She looks terribly excited to be going to the wedding. :-) Wearing black to a wedding?

Nice lighting, and good clear shot. For possible improvement, I would crop the photo on all sides so that you maintain about the same ratio, only the bottom would be cropped just a bit below the neckline. I would do that because I think the solid expanse of black from the arms and body of her outfit is unflattering for her. I would also somehow soften the focus on everyting but the eyes. I think also it would be nice to see a smile!

(edit to clarify...not much room to crop on top, but crop more bottom and sides.)

Mom looks like a very pretty lady, but she also looks like she doesn't want to have a thing to do with this photo! Technically though, nice shot! :)

Technically, it has very good lighting and the post processing looks good for her. I think you can crop a lot more. Because the top is black and the rest of the picture is light, the viewer's eyes are mostly drawn to the top instead of the face. I'd crop up to just slightly below the neckline and place her eyes on the upper 1/3 spot on the right. The straight on pose doesn't create a lot of excitement. By placing her more on the right side the picture becomes a little more dynamic and you will be able to crop out most of the shoulder at camera right. That would make her look more slim. A 5x7 crop would also help give a feeling of height to her. Anyway, that's what I think. But you know I'm wrong a lot of the time.

Looks like a very sweet mom. Give her a hug as often as you can......and
take lots of pictures.
