I'm a photographer at a newspaper and the boss just hired another photographer to help because there has been ALOT of stuff lately. Well this guy is an idiot(not trying to be mean) but he's never touched a camera or computer and doesn't know anything but is trying to tell me how to do my job. Now I know I've only been doing the photos for the paper for about 6 months, but he's driving me insane! Sorry to complain just had to vent. Does your job ever just drive you insane? |

I could be wrong, but I think that unless you're woking for yourself( and thus have no one to blame/kick except for yourself) Work in general pretty much sucks. I know my job sucks major donkey hoo-hah.

I think everyone hates their job at one point or another, especially if it's not exactly what you wish you could do as your means of supporting yourself/your family. I am so fortunate now to have a job I don't consider a "job" at all...but I went through a heck of a lot of crappy ones to get there.
I wouldn't worry too much about the idiot; he will certainly make his own bed and lie in it before too long. Natural selection works in the career world, too. ;)
Welcome to DPC, and I hope you enjoy your time here with us!!!! :)

I've tried kicking myself once, but I'm not that "elastic". |

get this! My boss just asked if I would work 7 days a week!! They want me to come in on saturday and sunday (granted its only for an hour) to do reports! That would mean i would have to come to the office every day of the week until the dawn of time! Needless to say I told him he couldn't pay me enough to do that! |

At least ya'll get paid! :)
You'd think being a domestic goddess would at least get you sacrifices and donations of gold, but the only burnt offerings I get are on the stovetop! And the little cherubic helpers I've got running around here aren't exactly helping too much...

Just like a regular job. You don't get paid, but you don't leave ur place. But there's always somebody running around you, pretending they are "helping" :-D |

I'm glad I could make you smile!
I'm a school counselor/Program Director for a local high school's pregnant and parenting teen program...I basically keep pregnant and parenting students enrolled and working toward their high school diplomas. I am part therapist, part social worker, part psychic, part mom, part referee, part tutor, and part diplomat (among many other hats depending on the situation). I used to wonder why I had three sons and no daughters, but after working with this program for the past few years, I know EXACTLY why! ;)
I hope someday you find your calling as well. There's nothing like being able to feel fulfilled and content with your career choice. :)

Don't feel too bad, I know exactly how it is. I have a guy that runs my machine after I leave for the day, and at LEAST once or twice a week, I have to fix it after he's done something stupid.

Don't you remember I cured my addiction to Oprah by substituting DPC??
We're having sweet and sour chicken (homemade) for dinner and chocolate cake for dessert.
Take out the trash and I'll even fix you a martini...

At least there was an offer of payment. Come get a salaried construction job, where you do what you must to get things done (I guess it happens in most every salaried managerial job, but construction is what I know), that can mean nights, weekends, holidays, labor work, office work, driving to God knows where, all for the same amount you would make if you didn't work nights, weekends, holidays, or any of that other stuff.
You get a salary - the same thing every day, week, month, etc - no matter what you do. They say it evens out since there will be times when the work is slow. Normally, when the work is slow, they give you more work :) |

I also love my job. I love what I do for a living (a buyer at a retail chain), but it's not that noble nor am I passionate about it, which is why I'm quitting my career next year to pursue photojournalism.
If only I hated my job, it would make my decision so much easier! [/url] |

I dunno, I roomed with four women when I was going to university. One of my most vivid memories was how their womenly cycles synchorized, and I came home one day to find that the dog had raided the bathroom garbage. I immediately turned around and went back to school.
