I sort of lurk around here and never feel brave enough to do this, but here we go... please give me some input on these two images. The Road shot seems grainy, even though it's 200 ISO - is that a result of post processing? Also, any tips on how to get more of a bang out of the color and depth?

I'll take any input I can get on either of these - thank you!!

Please excuse the sensor dust on this one:

Don't feel puzzled about asking for comments! Sorry, I couldn't help myself ;)
Left comments on both pics. I like specially the road one.

Bravo for stepping up to the plate, puzzled. I really like both shots. In the road shot, I would prefer personally that the post at bottom left be cloned out instead of cropped out... I like the crop just as it is, and I like the way the road disappears into the landscape at top right. The beach shot looks good to me just as it is... easy to forgive the sensor dust (what sensor dust :o)? Thanks for posting these.

For color saturation, I saw something posted a couple of weeks ago (don't recall who or I'd give credit), sorry that seems to work well.

Create a duplicate layer, increase saturation (you can push it fairly far) on that new layer, add some gaussian blur to soften edges (1.5 - 4 seems to work well for me), and change the blending mode to color. You can play with the opacity as well to get just the look you're after. This will increase saturation, but not kill the details as bad as straight Hue/Saturation/Lightness. I usually do this mid-way through processing (after cropping, levels adjustments, etc..) but before really fine-tuning with curves, resizing, sharpening, etc..

HTH!
