There's a Sydney Buses 233 that goes from Spit Junction to Georges Heights. It gets you there at 6.50~ish.
Does someone own a Tarago??
(You can get ANY bus to Spit Junction at that time.) |

HERE IS AN EMAIL REGARDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT TARONGA ZOO:
Dear Alan,
Thank you for checking first about our restrictions on photography here
at
Taronga
Zoo before visiting.
While Taronga Zoo places no restrictions on our visitors taking
pictures for
personal use as snap shots or home videos, we cannot approve display of
Taronga images as part of a public web site or competition, or for any
commercial gain or benefit.
We understand how appealing the images are for visual art but it is
essential that the use of our intellectual property is done in
partnership
with the Zoo to assist us with the cost of supporting these remarkable
creatures.
Naturally, you are all still welcome on 30 July, if you wish to take
pictures for individual reference. How many of you will there be, so I
can
advice staff that the group is in the Zoo?
Regards,
Kate O'Connor

Alan, perhaps you should of posted a warning first on that last post "Do not read this if planning to participate in the upcoming At The Zoo challenge.
Ignorance is bliss. I took this for the Vanishing Point challenge without any problems at all.
But when I returned for the Lucky 7 challenge,
the security guards took a very dim view of what I was doing.

I just checked the train timetable, if i get the 9.02am train at Woy Woy I would get to central at 10.10am. Now i am going to sound completely stupid, but where is circular quay from central station? SHould i get off there or somewhere else?

Lentil, I can pick u up from Central if you require and transport to the Quay. My wagon holds five, so room for 3 more.
Not sure if location has been decided but there are heaps of great locations in around the east. eg Bondi, Coogee, Watsons bay. Happy to act as tour guide. |

I come from the northern end of Sydneys beaches, so I can definitely meet people at 10-11 am at the zoo.
I'm still probably going to go to middle head/HMAS Penguin(naval base) for dawn.
I'll chuck the 24-70 f/2.8 on the 'ol film camera and get me some provia. I could always go old-school and stock Ilford PANF Plus 50-ASA........ soooooo smoooth... |

Out the front of the Museum of Contemporary Art is a good place.
It's the big sandstone building on the western shore of the Quay. |

Interesting. When I was a volunteer guide at Taronga Park's sister zoo (Western Plains in Dubbo), I came up with the idea of a photography competition (after seeing LA Zoo's photo competition website). It was run by us WPZ volunteers and included an art competition. I think the TPZ volunteers started a photo competition too. I don't know if either competition is still running.
