The crystal ball thing is genius...I knew that my numbers would be multiples of 9 but the symbol thing still got me! |

All the number nine multiples have the same symbol. That is why it didn't work for me, I just picked one and hit the ball thing. If you do the calculation there is no way it cannot be right every time. |

Well, I must be the stereotypical something, because it got every single thing right. I even did the crystal ball 3 times - every time it got it right. It was VERY spooky!
Edit: Okay, 7 times in a row the crystal ball was right! Only on my 8th try was it wrong. How the H*LL did they do that?!?!?

I got 6 and Red Hammer.
Someone help me out with the crystal ball thing. I did it more than 10 times coming up with numbers that corresponded to different symbols. It got it right every time. Then I tested it by just thinking of a number and looking at it. That was never right. Kept my hand off the mouse while adding. Never got the mouse near the numbers.
How can that be?

The answer of that sum will always be a multiple of 9 due to mathematical rules. All multiples of 9 on the chart are the same symbol, which changes randomly each time you try. Therefore it always knows what symbol it's going to be.

Doh! That's pretty clever. Glad there are some left-brainers around to clear this up. I could have spent all night on that thing and never figured it out. Thanks Konador.
Now that game Untangle...I've got it wired. Untangle
Think I'll go play it until I feel smart again.

Interesting. The reason 7 is so common is it is the difference between 12 and 5 and the mind subtracts subconsciously.
Saying "three" must prepare us to say "red" most easily, and the triangle with text is in a suggestive shape of a hammer.
The "crystal ball" is great. As noted, only multiples of nine are the result of the equation, and the "90" symbol is always randomized. That way it doesn't get 100%, but rather 89% and seems more realistic while still appearing very accurate.
Cool. |
