If this image doesn't haunt you I don't know what will...
This image conveys so much. So much pain, so much horror, so much that is wrong that needs righting... so very much.
Moodville, THIS is the kind of impact some of your photographs also have on me. THIS is what I mean when I tell you your work speaks louder than any words could.

ok i actually am shedding tears....its such a tough call...i only want to see humane treatment of animals...yet there is such amazing research that has been accomplished to help cure and manage so many diseases...
my daughter had hard time when they wanted her to disect...i told her that she had the right to say no and i would support her...with technology today computer animation should replace that need..
oh crap...how the heck did i get back up on my soap box again!!

Mr Nichols work has been an inspiration to me for quite some time, both with my photography and my personal interest with chimpanzees. His images can certainly be graphic at times but with a world of ever decreasing sensibilities I think it is important to get the point across.
Thanks for bring this to people's attention, Kavey. Although I have to admit that my chimp photography no way comes close to any of the impact or talent of that of Mr Nichols' work. Hopefully one day I'll get the opportunity to photograph chimps in the wild... at least while the opportunity is even possible. |

Should have known you'd already come across it...
:o)
But you're selling yourself short. Some of your images, precisely because they show the life of a chimpanzee in captivity, do have just as strong an impact (on me, anyways) as the work of Mr Nichols.
That said, I look forward to seeing your work when you do get the chance to photograph these animals in the wild. I think it will be astounding.

I remember seeing of his stuff in National Geographic. It's horrible what we as humans can put our closest genetic species through. Now I'm really bummed...
