Here's one...take this snap and turn it into something artistically appealing...let the artsy side take over.

This is a shot from the Antique Gas and Steam Engine museum that I went to for the Metal challenge I would have loved to use a shot like this one...but didn't notice the peeps in the background until I got home...anyways Straight from the camera nothing but a resize. Curious to see how others would handle some of the distractions in the shot.

1400x960 is here:

Sweet I really like the first and yes would have done better than the soft/sharp thing that I entered in to the challenge...even works well with the peeps in there.

Here's a couple of versions you're not likely to see:

Here's a shot, not too original on the "art" aspect...

Something about "circles" had me thinking in radial terms... :-)

Would it be possible for you to tell me how you achieved this effect? I love it.

Hahaha, Thanks Brad. The background on that one is a trick I learned from Sher9204. After months of school'in I'm finally getting it down.

Wait until I get home to do the editing - I've got the perfect idea for this shot...

Thanks Kieran, I really don't know my way around the editing software very well yet, so I would really be embarrassed to publicly describe, step by step, what a hack I am. But thank you, I'm flattered.

And thank you Tsheets, I'm glad you liked it.

That's like asking the Colonel for the secret recipe for KFC's Original Recipe chicken! :o)

Hahaha, It really is no secret, But I think Pedro could describe it more accurately than I could. I continue to add a bunch of un-necessary steps to get there. (But I'm working on it). I can tell you that I add Gaussian noise to most of these types of shots. I don't think the voters like noise much, but I like it.

This has to be, one of the most politically-correct ways of saying
"Neener, Neener, Neener - I ain't sharing squat!
LMAO

Whatever it is you don't know Gringo, don't forget how to do it!

:)

You'd never believe me anyway. Hours and hours of tedious dot for dot adjustments. You'd say... "are you kidding me?" Why don't you just layer it? or somesuch.

I just couldn't take the public humiliation. I need to learn how to do it the correct way still.

LOL - what are layers?
I think I understand...

Here's mine; cloned out peoples, layered highlight and shadow masks and tuned, made a feivel's gothic glow of the whole thing, layered highlight and shadow masks from those on luminance channels, then went into xero's filters, pastellized a flattened version, sadnwiched in another layer from BG, flipped that one to exclusion, et voila!

Ain't photoshop fun?
