Bogen/Manfrotto 337 Hot Shoe Bubble Level
I picked up one of these on an order I made to B&H last week. I had a chance to try it out yesterday afternoon and I'm quite pleased with the results.
This handy little device slides into your camera's hot shoe and allows you to determine how level your camera is on the tripod. I set up my tripod on uneven ground (a rocky lake shore) and adjusted the legs until the tripod's bubble level indicated that I was level. I put my camera on the ball head and then installed the bubble level in the hot shoe. I adjusted the ball head until both bubbles on the level indicated that the camera was perfectly level. Once the camera was level on the tripod, I was able to pan horizontally and keep the camera level at the same time. This device would be a great starting point for shooting panorama sequences with minimal image loss during the stitch process.

I have one of these gadgets and use it quite a lot.
just be careful to remember to take it out of the hotshoe when you put your camera into the camerabag, otherwise you might force it too far into the shoe and break the corners of the bubble level and make it more difficult to use.
very handy for architectual shots (to avoid bent lines/leaning buildings) and to keep the horizon level.

Been using one for so long I've forgotten that I use it, LOL. Can't imagine getting along without a level... An ordinary, small level can be balanced across the hot shoe to attain the same results, but this looks extremely handy.
Robt.
