I'd given it a 7. It was a very realistic image. I don't know why your worried though, you did come 34th out of 364, and thats nothing to be scoffed at. Theres always going to be people that score under 5 regardless of the image. I got 36 ones but the majority of points were above 5. (200th place, yay!)

Now way! I viewed it 5 times during challenge as a matter of routine. Other than that, her panties didn't excite me that much. I just thought it added an element to the pic that was probably overlooked by many.

Bandit - am very happy - and i know there are a few troll voters - but i do DPC to learn. I do challenges on other sites too and you would not believe the images i used to- enter absolute browns every time! Feedback is a great learning tool (though right now all i have learned is that the picture wasn't modest enough (???))

since you have all seen my "snatch shot" i thought i better post a picture of that elusive eye you were missing in my drkness challenge - profile photo uploaded ;)

As usual, stupid will go against the flow! I like the whiteness of the skirt, it is almost 'soiled virginity' purity v grime! If that makes sense. Everyone hates my grainy pics, but they look at them as a pure art work with loads of PS, I like raw, gritty pics.

Steve - i'm swith you , i don't know where this unseeded hatered for grain comes from, but i am a fan of a pict with high iso from time to time.

[quote=mesmeraj] I don't really understand what youre getting at? You would vote low because you can see my underpants? Belly?

I think they are voting low because they don't think you have any underpants on at all. Thats how I saw the shot, and voted high for it.

Glad I could make you laugh! I hope you weren't iunsulted by that. It was in no way meant as a criticism of you personally. I was really moved by the photo (some personal experiences). I looked at it with a critical eye and not a lascivious one. I thought the fact that they were visible added to the whole concept I related in my original post - out of place, it doesn't matter - there are bigger things at stake.

I have looked at your photos and think this fits in with your general style very well. I wish I had a portfolio that looked as nice. I appreciate the work you have done.

Am I the only one who is REALLY confused here..are you a female?? Your icon is male (or androgenous?) so I just assumed you were shooting a model and not yourself. . .

No - my icon is definately female. It's 80% hair then my face ad sholder - i'd love to be able to see this male you are seeing though.
And i have already said the darkness pic (and all the pics with people in that i have entered in challenges) is a self portrait.

Not at all - i'm easierly amused, hard to offend. And after all, i had it coming, i did submit it haha.

Thank you for your kind words on my portfolio - i need to add the jail pics, i am so lazy!

I never participated or voted in this one, but I find the outfit you're wearing not fitting with the picture.

I really like the second one more! Would have rated the first one a 5-6, and the second one an 8. :)

Not enough open minds or people willing to look at an image for more than a few seconds to interpret/absorb/let it take effect just so they can hurry up and get the voting over and get back to bashing everything they see.

The white skirt didn't bother me at all (as stated by someone above) I thought it was perfect - it was the incongruity in the photo. On top of that her panties showing makes it completely plausible - someone from one place finds themself in another completely different place and it just doesn't matter anymore.

I could have written that myself;) I too gave it a 10. It's perfect as it is. You had a vision for the image and communicated it excellently. I thanked the god of photography when I saw it (and a few other entries)..it met the challenge perfectly and wasn't simply a photo taken in the dark. It screams out that you put YOU into it. It moves you, it makes you think. It will never win here because unless you can produce an image that wouldn't look out of place on a Hallmark card you're fighting a losing battle.IMHO

Artistically:I find it to be Fantastic.
Compositionnaly: #1 is really interesting #2 I find less interesting
Technically....
I think that the lighting/exposure is fairly weak, the image is very flat and lacks the drama to which it is entitled, a lack of adjustment of curves and levels in post make these shot seem to "grey", I feel that a more agressive use of saturations and levels would have given these images the treatment they deserve.

I did not vote on this challenge, if I had, I'd have given a 4

i was pretty sure it was a jail immediately. but, i work in one and for the psychiatry services no less. i see people in what we call "safety cells" on a daily basis and have seen people in all states of distress.

as soon as i laid eyes on your image i thought, "you nailed it". my thoughts on some feedback (not meant to be a debate, just my thoughts): 1) you have the white skirt on because that's what you were wearing the day you were arrested, something you weren't planning on and, subsequently, didn't dress for. you should PS this image and add a dark skirt and see how it changes. 2) your underwear? adds to the realism of it, IMO. 3) you're not in the fetal position because you're trying to stay off the nasty floor and that little ledge won't hold both your legs. 4) i think your face would have, again, lessened the realism of the image, people hide their faces a lot in moments like this. "you can't see me" = "i'm not here" = "this isn't happening".

obviously, you weren't talking to me when you posed your request. i'm one of the 14 who gave you a '10', so i loved it.

i love reading people's feedback though, the real honest ones, "i gave it a four because i didn't like your hair" type of responses...those are so real, and give you a sense of where their minds are at and how to take the votes, ya know?

thank you for this comment. i'm brand spanking new to this and could never have articulated the way i feel about a lot of 'posed' images as well as you did.

in this case i didn't get that feeling, but still appreciate your putting it into words so well. now i won't feel so guilty when i vote low on the posed ones that make me feel 'used'. TY.

i have found that the voters on this site tend to prefer...for lack of better words, happy pictures. many prefer things like flowers, little kids, beautiful landscapes etc. To me, i don't favor these shots because in my opinion most don't have the same depth and meaning to emotive shots like yours. if you go to a strictly artistic website/forum like deviantART you'll get a lot more people appreciating your work.
